    First Build Need Some Suggestions

A good friend of mine gave me this Aeromarine Sport .40 hull and I need a little help on the motor and esc selection. The hull is 37'' long and seems like it weigh around 2-3 lbs. I was leaning towards the leopard 4092 and a turnigy 180a esc but I wasn't sure if that would be enough. I'm not planning on racing but I would like to see speeds around 50-60mph if possible. The boat started it's life as a gaser , but I'm all about electric now. My only experience with boats are with the Traxxas spartan and that doesn't seem like that amounts to much after lurking around forums for a while. I grew up strictly running gas trucks and buggys but I really am enjoying the electric boats. My plans are to get this up and running for a while then strip it down and put a nice fresh paint scheme on it and run it at my pond and around the lake. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The 4092 in the 1390 or 1480 kv would get that boat to haul Butt on 6s....................

I race the Aeromarine Shadow in Q Sport Hydro and even though it's design is almost 30 years old it is still a great race boat with the correct setup. Mine runs around 70 mph in race water for 90 second heats with a Neu 1527/1250Kv on 6S1P/6600 mAh packs. This is not a beginner's setup. A beginner's setup could be a Leo 4082/1250 motor spinning an x448 prop on 6S. That will give good run times and decent speed (mid-50s), yet allow you to prop up for higher speeds with shorter run times. High Kv motors are not needed and will draw excessive amps if you prop up just a bit too much. I tried a Neu 1527/1500Kv motor in this boat - it was no faster but it drew more amps. Lower Kv motors are much more forgiving in that regard.

Very nice set up Fluid. That is a very clean looking boat. Thanks for all of the advice Make-a-Wake and Fluid. I think Im going with the Leo. 4082/1250kv with esc combo that OSE is selling. Seems like that is perfect set up for me, and when I get a little experience I can always throw that in the Spartan and upgrade to something else. Thanks again for the help, I'll post some pics of my project on this thread. Feel free to critique my work I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get.
