I find the hobbyking hulls ok. Having said that I try to run on a budget. I just got a pursuit from HK and it handles really well. I run a turnigy 4074 2000kv, T180 with an x642 on 4s gps'd 42mph a couple of days ago. The finish isn't 100% (not as good as my genesis) but great performance, just needs some work out of the box like tightening everything up, re glueing the battery tray and sealing the hull as it leaked around the stuffing tube. But for the money an awesome hull.
A word of warning do not buy a Vanquish, Their are serious defects with that hull that affects performance. This very subject has been discussed a few times on this forum. If your set on this hull then get the Osprey its the same hull but without the defects & runs well or any of the above hulls. Just depends on you budget.
The thickness of my pursuit and genesis are both pretty good. Much better than the venom p1 I had that was like paper and if you knocked it into a bouy it damaged really easy. The HK hulls seem pretty robust.
I have several hulls from HK and they work fine. They had a bad rep in the past, but have improved a lot. However, you will be better off paying a small amount more for your boat on OSE. Fast delivery & good prices.
