I have wanted to set up either the mono 20 or 40 Seaducer for quite a while now. Is anyone running one? If so what is your set up? Do you have any pics you could share? Also do you like how the boat handles etc? Thanks!
Anyone running an electric Seaducer?

Just out of curiosity what separates a good one from a bad one , are the hull builds inconsistent.............Necessity is the mother of invention.............

Send me a PM with your email addy and I'll try to help. Set up properly, Seaducers are great boats.
Any mono that has not been tuned properly can be a "Seadunker".

I use the term 'Seadunker' as it is very commonly used in the gas boat community. Due to the way these boats are built - with hooks in the bottom - sometimes they don't cure the way they are supposed to resulting in a tendency to dive. No other hulls have that rep, and you can't blueprint the bottom without removing the hook. The gas guys used to run a lot of them, but due to hull inconsistencies relatively few do any more. Two club members had "bad" hulls which would not run well - wet and squirrely. One had a good hull which set several NAMBA records. I watched Jerry run 92 mph with his F boat in Huntsville, but then he has his choice of hulls and picks the best. As I said, if you get a good one you're in like Flint - get a bad one and it's a Viking funeral.

Here is a boat that a customer of Jerry's couldn't make run right.
At this SAW we watched quite a few 100+ mph hydros including Chris Harris running 139.xx mph with his S hydro. Those boats look like they should be going that fast. But a mono at nearly a 100.mph is just SICK!
I'm not saying that a bad hull never came out of Seaducer Boats, they are no different than any manufacturer. But if the boats aren't set up properly (as per the instructions) you'll never be happy with one.

Fluid, Thanks for the info on the hulls.
Doug, Do you remember Ron (capt. Ron)? Before he passed I was conversing via e-mail back and forth with him on his electric Seaducer boats. Correct me if I am mistaken but I believe he laid down the first SAW records with those boats and Nue motors. Anyway, I have always been intrigued by the design not requiring the rear hardware. However, if you guys believe another hull (newer design etc) would be better please make some suggestions. I have been involved in RC for 25 ears now but never really done much with boats. I am not a racer but enjoy having a fast vehicle. :D For me tuning a car or in the case a boat to go fast and handle like its on rails is part of the enjoyment. I am also considering one of MLboatworks newer kits. I love to build! However maybe a mono will be better for going fast and for recreation. However I could possibly race at a later date so the boat needs to be capable. What do you guys think?Comment

I think about the Capt. regularly. He was my "mono mentor" so to speak. I kind of picked up where he left off with the FE Seaducers.
Ron was very passionate about the hobby and his Seaducer monos.
This was Ron's last project and current IMPBA T-Mono record holder. Unfortunately he passed before the first hole was drilled.

Whose the guy with the white sneakers????
Greg, a Seaducer that is set up well is a thing of beauty to watch running across the water. I dont know what your boating experience is but I can't say I would recommend a 'ducer to an inexperienced boater or for a first build. The build has to be very well thought out since there is less room in a 20 Seaducer compared to your typical P-Mono hulls. They are also harder than most electric mono's to tape up. This is probably one of the bigger factors in why they are not as popular as FE's compared to nitro power. I would see if there are any clubs in your local area and attend an event so you can take a look at the various hull styles and see what you like. Once you do, we can throw some recommendations your way.Last edited by Chilli; 07-07-2012, 09:39 PM.Mike Chirillo
