what you have there is a H&M Viper Turbine. Great boat. I had mine GPS'ed at 58MPH. At those speeds, you need to keep the weight as far to the front as you can. My Neu 1512 2d was mounted all the way in the nose of the hull.

        diegoboy,

thanks for the info and the heads up on weight distribution. in the photo of the boat running, the batteries are shoved all the way forward on either side of the motor. i thought i might need to move them back, but the photo and your info pretty much indicate that isn't gonna need to happen.

it is also nice to know that it still has quite a bit of room left to grow as i get better. I have a spare hobbyking turnigy marine 120amp esc, and the x442 props. i think i might try it with a couple 2s 3300 or 4000mah batteries in series next time, to see how close to 50 she will get. baby steps for now. maybe try an x642... or a 3 bladed Y... or a grimracer. ah, the joys of finding the perfect prop...

        also:

my 1/12 scale (24") budweiser hydroplane made by Hydro & Marine, running at 38+ mph.

Turn that boat at full throttle. It will hold, no need to back off in turns.

ran the boat again today at a bigger pond with two minor changes:

            1) ran full throttle around all the curves as Diegoboy recommended
            2) ran with a set of new 3300mah 40c lipos bought specifically for this boat, in a 4s setup

top speed with the y536 prop was 48mph (gps).
maximum amp draw was 97.4 amps, with an average of 53 amps. I basically ran it full throttle for 1.5 minutes, for a little over 1.1 miles.

i discovered that if you accidentally make a left turn at that speed it will do a 1080 in about 3 feet.

My fault, I forgot to remind you of the "no left turns"

not your fault, it was kinda fun, actually, everyone at the pond was certain that the rescue boat was going be going out, but once the boat stopped spinning, everything was fine. right hand turns were on rails.

so i took the boat out again today, on the larger pond, with nice calm water, in front of a crowd of 6 other guys, two of whom have FE boats, so it was quite the audience...

                  picture speaks for itself:
