looking to get genisis offshore but is it my best bet....

So I'm ditching the idea of converting my aquamarine scorpion to FE. So now I'm looking to get a big twin hull boat. The gensis from hobby king seems to be the best bet.
I am trying to make use of what I got already for the scorpion if possible. I have 2 3s 3300mah lipos already. I think I can get two more and fit all four into the genisis. I have a sky-wing 200amp esc and a tacon 4465 13t 1400kv motor.

I am pretty sure the motor is no good for the boat. But the esc and batteries I'm hoping are useable.

With that said if I go with the genisis hull only option what is the best option for speed, run time and heat? Single motor or two?

I am really trying to end up with a 3' ish twin hull boat that is fast and runs for awhile. awhile being maybe 10-20 minutes and doesn't overheat. I'm also looking to stay cheap and want to build it. So I don't mind a hull only and then glue, cut, paint, etc.

let me know what you guys think and I am going to be putting the scorpion in the for sale section, if I meet whatever forum requirements there are for me to list it in there.

    Thanks,
    Chris

You will never see 10-20mins run time in FE 5-6mins is more like it. To run the genesis on 6s you will prob need more than 3300mah too. I would go for at least 5000mah 40c. Hobbyking do some cheap XK motors that are pretty good, not sure about your esc as I'm not familiar with it.

How are you getting to the 6s number? 2 packs or 4. I was thinking I could get two more 3300 packs and run all 4 in it. Two in parallel and then both sides in series. If that makes sense. Shouldnt that give me 6s 6600mah? Or am I not getting it right

Yes that would be right. I assumed 6s Because of the 1400kv of your motor.

Oh no I ment what are telling me to use to have 6s. Every where I look people are only putting two packs in the genisis but the boat is like 3' long. Hmmmm

The more research I do it really looks like I need to ditch the lipos I have and get 2 3s5000mah packs. Maybe 40c rating. So if you do that now I would have a genesis hull with the new packs. But is my skewing esc good for it, then there is the motor I have. Plus what ever driveline setup I was planning on getting the bare hull so I could build it up my own way. Probably a good plan if I knew what my way is

I find it easier to get the boats from hobbyking with the motor because all the hardware is pre installed. With my genesis I chucked the motor that came with it fitted a turnigy XK-4074 2000kv motor and a turnigy 180a marine esc but I run mine on 4s. Do a search and take a look at other peoples proven setups. The T180 esc I very popular and most seem to choose a leopard 4074-4082 and kv will depend on what batteries you want to use. Hope this helps.

I like that advice. So if I go that route and run 4s I may try to use my esc since I see everyone says its fine on 4s. Tge 3/16 shaft upgrade was one reason I wanted tge hull only.

What kind of speed/runtime are you seeing with your setup?

                  Have a look

                  Only 5mins run time though.

Your 4 3S packs will fit just fine. I have 2 3S 5000mA packs and I just dropped them in lengthwise to check. Plenty of room. The only issue you might have is your pack placement is limited due to the length and therefore getting your COG set may be difficult. I don't really think it'll be much of an issue though.

Even 5 mins continuous is a stretch if you are looking for speed. Most of the vids I see are in the 2-3 min range (including the one James linked) before they bring the boat in. The max speed setups are good for a few passes and you're done. Your speed goal will also determine whether your SkyWing is adequate. Their reliability also seems hit or miss. I have read some die on power up and others last years. Not sure about lasting years on 6S though. I definitely have read of people running 4S with no issues.
Disclaimer: I hereby accept the potential loss of motor, ESC, entire boat, or credit rating, and forfeit all expectations of success.
