    Speed predictions

If you think you have a good eye, guess the speeds on these vids. FIRST, mute the volume on your computer. They are two different setups with different props and RPM, so the sound can throw you off if you listen to them both.
One of these setups I only ran for a quick single pass, and GPS doesn't alway register accurately on a single pass. The other setup I ran a few times and verified. I want to see what people think the difference is between the two...It might give me an idea of how accurate the GPS reading was. Don't be afraid to guess, you're not being graded.

These are different setups than anything I have posted prior with this boat, so if you saw earlier vids, don't go by them.

Does one look faster than the other? They GPSed different...if no one notices a difference I am going to have to try one of the setups again to make sure the GPS was on. I can see a difference, but I know which one is which, so I'm not sure I can objectively look at them.

            Keith! You maniac!
That explorer handles the speed real nicely. I truthfully cant tell which is faster. If I HAVE to guess, I'd say number one. Could be the camera angle though.

Think there's any chance there's a 15MPH difference between the two? I think I got the short end of the stick on one of the readings...I may have to take it back out with that setup and run again.

The first vid, or testing 2 is faster by looking at the background and area covered. My guess would be 65-70ish.

Oh, and yes...it does straight lines very well. It's more of a scale bottom with no ride pads like the Daytona/Genesis hull, so it is easy to spin out or flip turning at lower speeds, but it's a boss on the straights. I've even ran it in some pretty solid wind/chop and I've never had a crash or flip at high speed...just when turning too tight at 10mph.lol
I think a longer rudder would help, but I would expect a speed loss too.

Top video was 88mph, bottom video said 73mph???
I think it was slower on the bottom vid, but not by that much. I think I'm going to take it back out with those props and try it again. I only made the one pass with that setup, so it's quite possible that I got a low reading.

I'll stop once I get over 90...I promise.

Then I will throw the next one in the water.

After taking it to my little test pond today for a quick couple passes, I think the GPS reading was low. The slower setup of the two was with significantly less RPM than the other one, but different props. Running them both at the same RPM, I'm getting higher speeds with the props I used in the bottom vid.
Should be 90mph next time out.
