    Jae 21 rigger

Hi I just bought this rigger and have some questions? Here is the setup swordfish 200amp esc with castle bec, leopard 4082 1800kv motor modified 1445 octura. 1st question since it has a bec does it need a battery pack for the servo and receiver or just turn on the radio and plug the lipo to the esc. Sec how do u arm or setup the esc it's been a while since I had a fe boat trying to get back into it. Btw I bought a program card for the esc I hope its the right one it comes 2marrow along with my charger. The guy I purchased it from said on 5s it did 60 on 6s it did 70 average high 60s I'm looking to make the boat run 80+ this is a fun just to make fast and play with don't need a bunch of run time a few mins is fine let me know what u guys think. I think the only thing I'm gonna need is a different esc hv this ones only good up to 6s btw lipos I have are 5s and 6s

you dont need an external batt pack for the bec as long plug in to the esc , as far as arming the esc make sure you program it for you application lvc and number of cells you will be running

read all instructions that come with the ESC. (hopefully it has them).

what does the programmer look like?

I think you may want a higher KV motor. Most of the guys run high (3000 and up) on 2s 0r 3s due to the room of the riggers/hydros.But if you can fit the 5s-6s packs in this rigger I guess you should be OK.I would probably still go 2000 or 2200kv.It has been a while since I have run a rigger(brushed days) so someone else may want to chime in.What Mah are the packs?

I am quite familiar with those ESC's and if you are going to run 5-6s you should use the external BEC.Just diconnect the red wire to the RX.

I almost never run an ESC at its voltage limit, it is just asking for trouble in high performance setups. On 5S you will be hard pressed to reach 80 mph with that motor, but 70s are certainly possible with the right prop. An x648 prop with the right hull set-up will work. Remember that all the power in your boat is in the packs - cheap or old packs will not give the performance of newer/higher quality packs even with the same motor/ESC/prop. Watch you motor/ESC/pack temperatures closely, these are high performance setups and making more than a few passes is asking for trouble until you know what is safe.

Cant help with your esc but that motor on 6s in a JAE 21 will be good for 80+ mph set up correct. The 1445 prop is to small for those sort of speeds though, their running bigger props on the JAE21 with 540 size motors.A friend in Brazil is running this same boat & motor all be it a 2000kv on 6s 5000mah on ABC 52/70 prop & getting 90mph, this was a brand new boat first time out. His is set for saw runs only. Ive seen the vid of this boat & believe me its ballistic for a build for such little money. The JAE are fantastic design boats & so easy to build & set up.

I bought the rigger already made and the setup that I listed is what it has I would like to run this the way it is now setup and then can upgrade if needed to reach my goal. If I undo the red wire will that make the receiver need a battery pack or still just the lipo will power everything. I can fit a 5s 5000mah and a 6s 4000mah in the boat and that's the two lipos I have now

Yes you can cut or pull the pin out of the esc plug & fold the wire back & wrap with tape or you can also use a short extention lead & do this on the extention lead so if you want to use the esc with a bec you just unplug the extention lead. If you cut or disconect the red wire you will need to use a separate rx pack or conect a ubec to the esc leads. By the way a lot using the 4082 motor in these hot set ups are using the T180a esc, the JAE that done 90mph also used this esc.
