Cant find extended shaft wire drive or reverse wind drives

Hey guys I'm having a hard time buying wire drives that have the longer shaft for 110 stingers and reverse not square end cable drives. 3/16 shafts, 3/16 flex and .78wire. Ose is out, fighter cat doesn't have them listed anymore, and Jeff doesn't have the longer shafts. Without emailing them I wanted to know if there is another source that I'm not aware of that may have them in stock?? Thanks

I was also looking for longer wire drives than 12" and ended up purchasing 36" music wire only to find out that none of the 12 wires were straight enough to use.

If OSE is out you can call Octura or take a look at Rocket City Racing.

Anyone ever try stainless wire from McMaster for a wire drive? I wonder if they would be more true. I have an .093 I plan to build soon. Finding straight wire long enough might be a problem.

Hey thanks for the replys but I'm not looking for longer wire, I'm looking for longer shafts thar go in the bushings inside the stinger, on at cat. Using say a octura450 prop the prop is rather longer than say a 442. More prop = les shaft inside the bushings. And on the 110mm stingers that have square end two piece shafts if replaced by wiredrive or one piece shaft not much of the actual shaft is in contact with the bushings. So I guess I'm looking for a source to drill out 3/16 shafts at a total length of 3" instead of the standard 2-1/4" or so length. Drilled out to .78 or. 93 wire size. Or if there is any other places that sell extended shaft wire drives or left and right 3/16 cable drives with longer 3/16 shaft non threaded .

Are you sure Jeff Wohlt couldn't make those for you?

Sorry, I assumed you refering to the wires not the stub shafts. I have bought 316SS shafts from McMaster and reamed them for the appropriate wire size and used Loctite to bond them. Easy if you have a decent lathe available. I thought Jeff had some longer stub shafts for the Traxxas Spartan. Look on the bottom of the wire drive page

Oh I didn't think of the spartin shaft, I don't have any tools aside from hand tools, might have to start building shop up. I do believe Jeff could make them, I just wanted to know if there was another source that I don't know about :) thanks for the info, I'll look

You could layer up K&S brass tube until you get to 3/16". You'll want Loctite 603 to do that. That's likely how I'll do mine.

Stainless (and there are many types of stainless but most based on the 300 series) will not hold up to the abuse of a wire drive. Unless you buy an exotic stainless like Inconel...if you could find it in wire. Use carbon steel aka music wire.

Have any of you ever done that layering? That would be really simple for me to do. I'm assuming to ruff up the inside of each layer. Just don't know if the loctite will hold up in-between a few layers, guess it would, it does on other drives. I'm going to be pushing a heavy twin 36" cat up to and hopefully over 80mph. Using 3/16 flex now but want to switch to wire. Almost a straight shot for the wire. Might even go to .93 wire too.

I have been making many of the longer drives for the Fighter Cat 110mm stinger. I can make wire drive for you up to 3' long if you like or cables. I will try and get tthem on my site but Hotel business is so busy right now and we just bought another so my days are long.

Tried SS...nothing sstronger out there than good carbon wire. I was playing with 2mm bike spokes for a bit. It can work but did not push them too hard.

I've done the layering thing up to 6s. The tricky part is getting the layers even. If it's off you'll get wobble which makes a mess.
