    Aeromarine collet style coupler

I have one of these collets and it doesn't run true you can see the flex shaft go up and down when you turn it by hand.
My question is would it be the motor shaft hole not drilled straight or could the problem be in the brass insert? But I suspect its probably safer to scrap it and try something else.

Remove the "olive" and "Nut" and spin the part of the collet that is on the shaft. Look at the tapered section, do you see it wobble? If Yes, it is not true. If no, it's most likely the brass olive insert. A lot of times the collet is true, but the motor shaft bore is oversized so when the set screw is wrenched tight it offsets the collet and has runout.

Is the collet sloppy on the motor shaft when the set screw is loose?

On the other hand, I've had too many to count issues where the Octura has failed, and zero of the aeromarine fail. Now I only use Octura on my "slower" boats
