    what effects timing has??

So I got esc and programer in from ose so my Genesis finally got wet for the first time tonight. And frankly was kinda disappointed....I know the 20c rating is probably a big problem but I was still expecting more. I noticed on the programming card for my seaking 180 that the last value was timing? I have no idea what to put it at nor the affects it has if any on speed. I also noticed there was no difference in speed between 3/4 throttle and full.....anyone have an idea where I should have my timing set at for a 1250kv Leo on six cells? Any advice is much appreciated !

I assume that your motor is a 4082/2.5Y. This motor will run well with 10-15* timing advance depending on the load, but the timing will usually not make a large difference in speed. What prop are you running? Typically the difference in speed between 3/4 and full throttle is not a lot in many sport setups. You are correct, all the power in an FE boat is in the packs, cheap low-C packs do not equal top speeds.

Hey fluid. Dude I wish I could tell you what motor exactly. All I was told when I bought the boat was it was a 4082 1250kv. As for the prop again all I could do is take apic of it. I jack crap about props. I will go take the prop nut off and post the numbers.

Ok it is a octura x445...I also have a grim racer 42x 55. Both are metal props. I also have a couple plastic ones that say k40 and k42 whatever that means

The x445 should be good for around 45 mph with good packs and a well-trimmed boat. But it is pretty small for that motor and a 6S setup; that 42x55 is really small as are the plastic props. This explains why your speeds don't increase the last 1/4 throttle - the motor is wound out without enough load. Once you get some better packs you can move up to a larger prop and much more speed. Trimmed correctly with enough 'juice' that motor should spin an Octura x648 or Prather 230.

fluid. Thanks man! Which of those two props is the smaller of the two? Do I run a risk of over heating using the smaller of the two now? Maybe I'll put that x445 on my k.o.s. It could do with a little more prop.

Well I'm gonna try a x642 instead of the x445. A tad smaller dia. But a tad more total pitch. Will GPS if the freak in wind ever stops blowing. Idaho and boats don't mix very often! Lol count to think of it that's why I gave up helis
