Almost afordable GPS+data logger from HK

Hello this is the new product:
    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ta_Logger.html
It looks good, has the basic functions (maybe the ability of downloading the data over usb is missing).
However, even if is probably a re branded Voltron, is cheaper than the latest.

Does not log Amps etc and looks more for flight but could be a reasonable GPS as its fairly light.

Right, seems it only logs GPS data. The light weight is a plus. I am tempted to use my iPhone (5oz?) to log speed data, but I'd hate to see my phone AND boat go to Davey Jones.

          GPS Data Logger

That's the Voltron Data Logger...small enough to fit inside a pill bottle WITH a 2S LiPo if you want to keep it waterproof.

I just bought the Voltron and I was expecting a big shock at HK's price but its not as cheap as I thought it would be.

Ha! I was tempted to use my iPhone as a speedometer too, just couldn't bring myself to taking that chance. I ended up getting a nuvi gps from best buy for like $80, and look for some outdoor shops they carry a lot of stuff for watersports for iPod,iPhone to make them waterproof

I ended up taking the plunge on the HK version. I read a review on a V1 Voltron where the guy said it was 10 mph off. Now im not certain if he was saying it was ACTUALLY 10 mph off or 10 mph off his "calculations" as he was talking about both.

I took it out for a spin in the car tonight. Against the speedometer I was consistently within .5 mph. Its probably more accurate/sensitive than the car speedometer. My gps/speed program on my phone wouldnt work... so I couldnt compare to that.

In real time it shows current speed, distance traveled, elevation. When you stop logging you can press the button to display max speed, average, distance and elevation (I assume max).

So next time I run my Pursuit I can note the base line elevation and get a height when it does another fabulous flip. ROFL.

I have used my Android phone to log speed. Put it in a watertight pouch with some foam, still made me very nervous.....

That's what I was thinking myself, dropping my android in a double zip lock, just haven't found an accurate GPS speedometer app to use. I can't justify dropping $100 on a logger when I don't race competively. I'll probably find a logger from a local rc junkie anyway......

I use the Voltron for speed, a Swordfish 120 with datalogger for RPM, ESC temp, current, voltage, power and an Airtronics radio with real-time telemetry for temps and RPM...overkill? Maybe, but it sure helps to dial in my props and hardware settings on my JAE 21!
