Pursuit trim tabs & turn fins

Im in process of actually assembling my Pursuit.

I currently have a set of Fullers trim tabs which he included when i bought the boat. They look nice, but boy are they heavy (all stainless steel). The turn fins included have been sent to the scrap heap...

So I need new tabs and fins. Are these truly needed on the pursuit? What size to get?

    Power is a 4074 leopard M445 prop.

Most def needed. Trim tabs help you trim the boat and the boat won't turn without the fins. I'm running 68mm fins and it still skips at time when in a long sweeper.

      :S mine dosent
but mine does run fairly flat

For how much the turn fins and trim tabs cost you might as well put them on
if your turn fins arnt right, you can simply remove them, and you can always put your trim tabs up

remember to NOT mount the trim tabs flat with the bottom of the hull, they need to be higher than the bottom of the hull

These fins are plenty big enough.

These are the tabs on mine. They work fine. Plenty of adjustment to get both straight line & cornering right.

            Paul,

Can you get a clear shot of the transom of your Pursuit? I never mounted trim tabs yet. Trying to gauge how far from the CL of the V they should be as well as how far above the bottom of the hull. I have them laid out for about 2mm above the hull and 28.5mm from CL. This clears my strut but keeps them fairly tight to it. I believe I have the same trim tabs as you but the top parts solid on mine.

I ended up going with the OSE Large trim tabs. I had an email into Steve and he recommended the larger ones. I got those mounted and they look good.

If anyone else knows the best position for these trim tabs please chime in.

                Hi Basstronics.
That pic is the best I've got, & unfortunately I sold the hull on the weekend to a fellow club member. So I can't take a better one. But the inside edge of the trim tabs were 30mm from the centre line of the keel. I usually put my tabs up about 1.5mm.
With the bigger turn fins, I think you'll find you won't need too much in the water. This hull turns very well.

                Morati.
                Thanks bud.

Just make sure the innersides of the tabs are not closer to the middle then your biggest prop wide is, otherwise you could disturb
                  the water towards the prop.
