i hate the cheap rudder i got for my df26. its just not great quality, but also im curious if my rudder is causing more harm than good. its a 3' rudder form bottom of bracket to tip. is this too long? i was looking at the speedmaster mini rudder, which says 4", but the quality is much better than what i have now. any thoughts? suggestions? heres a crappy video, i didnt catch much of the turning because im still messing with my video camera/hat contraption, but you can hear the prop jumping in and out of the water. thanks guys

I've been lucky cutting mine down(haven't gone too far).Take two rudders, cut one down a 1/4 at a time and test, repeat till you start to lose the desired steering. Then leave the second one a 1/4" longer and you should be fine. You could use this one you don't like to experiment with.Unless you are going to change the width drastically with the new one. Does that little 26" carve like a DF should?Comment

Well, I can say that it turns ok. Not great IMO. The tolerances on the current rudder aren't good. Lots of play in there. Cutting the crappy one for testing is a good idea. If you watch my video, you can hear the prop. Should give a good idea what's going on. I noticed the new revolt has a short rudder I think. Got me thinking....Comment

Grab one of these and cut it to the water pickup. Then you will have a 3" blade. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80050
I have a couple of these so I measured it.Comment

The new rudder worked nicely. Seemed much more stable... Not sure if the play in the old one was causing some of the squirrel like behavior, but I'm very happy with the new one. It's nice living 20 minutes from ose, I get my stuff really quickly in the mailComment
