    HELP! LH/RH cable question/issue

    HI,

First run on my twin apparition scratch build and i was really really impressed, however after the end of the first run one of my cables (4mm octura) snapped and twisted up, i now have to find out why and want to eliminate using the wrong cables.

Both props are set to be turning inwards, looking at the rear of the boat the cable on the right is the same as my my single Genesis is this right (standard rotation) with the left hand motor is counter rotating is this right?

The teflon liner is going to be knackered and i hope this was what the puff of smoke was when i opened the lid, however any tips on removing the teflonfrom the stuffing tube or am i doing to have to start from scratch?

    Thanks in advance

That is the correct wind flex for the left side turning inwards (clockwise rotation), how much gap do you have between the coupling & end of the stuffing tube & where along its length did the flex break.

thanks martin, the gap between collet and stuffing tube was about 5mm and it was about at this point it twisted and broke, i am going to take out the stuffing tube totally and redo it as it must have been aligned badly, if it goes again maybe i need to upgrade to 3/16.

heres a couple more pics the first one shows where the flex untangled (it ended up about 2" longer than it used to be)

this shows how it was aligned

If they are the square end 4mm then i dont think they make a counter rotating cable and if you reverse the motor without the counter rotating cable then it will just unwind the cable much like unwinding a spring. Not sure if this answerrd your question but i had something like this happen after putting a boat in full reverse now i disabble reverse in all my escs

The flex pictured is a clockwise rotation flex, you can tell by the angle or direction of the wind.

They are not the square drive ones they are rh/lh cables, I've pulled the old stuffing tube with the help of a little heat and making up a new one, interestingly the liner had slide about an inch down the into the stinger when I removed it so maybe this contributed?

The stinger itself (standard apparition 4mm black one) only has one small bushing at the end of the stinger about 1/2" long which means the rest of the length of the stinger is on supporting the flex, should I insert some brass and Teflon into the stinger to add support or is this done for a reason?
