    Newbie with a hull

    Hi Guys,

Looks to be a good sight with a lot of great info. Anyways, I'm new to RC boats & I just received a 32" godspeed catamaran from my wife for my b-day & I have a number of questions.

I would like to eventually get the thing to go over 50 - to beat an out of the box traxxas. Curently, I'd like to stick with the stock driveline - what can this setup take ?

    1) What would be a good choice for an esc & motor

    2) What would be a good choice in batteries (# cells total voltage, use in // or series) ? I have a few of 2 cell 5000 mah turnigys for my cars that are 45 -90Cs - are these enough ?

    3) What would be a good prop choice - I do not think the plastic one will last long. So I'd like one balanced & ready to bolt on.

    4) I believe this is a 4mm cable - will I need a prop adapter.

Thanks in Advance, I can see there is a lot of experieice on this board.

the second questions you asked will determine your first question.

Are you wanting to use those batteries or are you willing to step to other batteries?
CF Fightercat Daytona, 21 year old Hitec Sea Nymph, Genesis and many more to come im sure.

If you want to use the packs you have you could run them in series making 14.4v and then the motor you are looking at would be in the 2000kv-2200kv range from 3674 to 4082 I guess and mabye an m445 prop but if you change your batteries you will change the setup. I'm no expert but I run 14.4v in a genesis 37" with a 4074 2000kv motor and x642 prop and that goes pretty well. Let me know if you want the YouTube link to my genesis running.

Izcain - Ideally, I'd like to stick with 2S packs, as I have a few for my truck with deans connectors. So I'd like to be abe to stock up & swap, but I am not opposed to going to 3S packs. However, my goal is to get into the 50's.

Jamepl - I'd like to see your vids. What batteries do you have & what kind of run time do you get with the 2S in series ? I'd like to get a couple in // to extend my run time.

All - here are the batteries I currently run in my truck.

          Here you go

I get approx 5mins on 6000mah 25c pack but I'm upgrading to some 5900mah 60c packs. Your deans won't cut it if you want to do 50mph. I use ec5 connectors and have had them desolder!
