New motors from China, Uh Oh Lehener, watch out! Sneak peek!

Here you go, something for the high watters and big boaters from China.

A new motor that can go from delta to star? Six connectors like a Lehner but, FOUR POLES to boot.

    Uber cool and coming sson!

Poor man's LMT. Where did you get this chart and any idea of pricing?

With the larger hulls in which they would be used with, lower rpm's (25K-28K) with more torque and larger props are better suited then higher rpms (>30K) with slightly smaller props. JMHO.... Motor look rather interesting that's for sure!

That was my thinking. props are going to be large gas props so keep in the same rev range.

These motors are not really comparable to Lehners, these are 4-pole motors more comparable to the larger Neu and Leopard motors. I doubt LMT has anything to worry about. The ability to change wind types is not very useful in spite of all the hype - the difference in Kv is so great that one motor can seldom serve two different uses in the real world. What would you do with a motor having a Kv of just 600 rpm? That's a 1050 Kv 'D' motor changed to a 'Y'. Those of us with the big 30xx series Lehners learned this fact long ago. We also learned that high prop speeds are not where it's at with the large format motors, you need too small of a prop to keep amps under control. Remember that gas engines are lucky to turn 18,000 rpm; my 10S boats turn around 26,000 rpm.

Would not a 606kv motor at 28v be nearly 17,000 rpm so correct for a gas replacement ?

These big boys could be interesting. Appear to be somewhere between a Lehner 3040 and a 3060 size and weight. But the 30xx series are all 60mm dia cans. Still, if we could get a 8hp motor for something like $200 it would open up the big cat world for those lacking a big pocket book. I mean look at the FC speedos coming out? Lots of potential there.

Sure, but you miss the point - why have one motor with two Kvs - just buy the Kv you want - it's a gimmick. Anyway, 17,000 rpm is too slow unless you just want to duplicate gas performance, and I'm dubious that the 600 Kv motor would swing a 75mm prop on 8S with an amp draw an ESC could survive. And why use 8S with such a big motor when you can get the same performance with lower amp draw and longer run times with 10S? I'll believe the 6300 watts continuous rating when I see it - hope I do.

I know they won't compare to Lehners, I was just kinda kidding because they took the idea from Lehner.

I found these in the 2012 Catalog. All can be found here: http://www.skyrc.com/index.php?route=common/home

They don't sell direct AFAIK but, I emailed them questions about the motors.

I don't think they make everything, they do brand and distribute though.

The chargers are Imax, I like the B6- Ultimate 800watt. Bought one for a buddy, very nice but, he needs the 1200W Efuel power supply now to run it.

Hobby King just came out with there rebranded Ultimate 800 charger last night. Same unit, different case.

                              So much rebranding, crazy.
