    esc problems i think

well i just got around to putting my swordfish 200a esc in my boat that i ordered here from ose. i am getting nothing thru the esc to power the receiver, also as soon as i plug in my battery it sparks and makes a loud pop sound, is it susposed to do that? i am using a leopard 4078 1700 motor and zippy 4c batts.

well ive been doin a little work on it, i pulled teh wrap off from around the esc and to me it looks like either the red wire goin into the esc is not soldered very well or its touching the edge of the esc, here r a few pics, let me know what yall think.

My radio is a Spectrum and my Swordy's don't power up till my radio is armed.I do run a BEC on my twin setup but until there is a light on my Rx there is nothing from the ESC.It does take a bit to arm everything. So that means have the transmitter on and bound..

yes i bound the transmitter with the receiver and everything, i waited 5 minutes and it still did nothing so i checked the wires from the esc and they have no power, the swordfish also has a bec but i am getting nohting out of the esc.

Are you running a separate Rx pack? And did you disconnect the red ESC wire if so?

I kinda wish my ESC's weren't covered in liquid tape so I could check the leads.

no rx pack, the esc is how i received it from ose. it has its own bec built in, 3.5v i believe. like i said i checked the wires goin to the receiver and i am not getting any power out of them.

Try a separate pack on the RX and see if the ESC arms.Perhaps the BEC is pooched.

Well the caps are good then.I don't think these ESC's are tested before going out so you never know.Where did you get it from?

I have to go to work now,try the Separate Rx pack and see if the ESC arms.

I don't run mine anyway, you should check what happens with the red wire off of the RX plug.Just curious.
Also I would let Steve know and see whether you can live with it.He might help you out somehow. Glad you found the problem.
