The liner in the stuffing tube on my genesis is on its way out and I was wondering how important it is to have it as I've read posts where people say they don't use them. Should I replace it or will it run fine without it?

you'll need to replace it, or go to the next smaller size in brass stuffing tube. I never run liners. It's pointless. -

You don't need to replace the tube-- just tap in the next size smaller tube into the larger tube...

If you're currently using a .150 flex with teflon, you can go up to a 3/16 flex without changing the stuffing tube.Mike Chirillo

I have the stock 2 part flex shaft. I'm not sure what size it is? Will a 3/16 liner fit?Comment

What Chilli is telling you is to take the liner out completely and just step up to a 3/16 Flex shaft (you will need to go to a 3/16" flex collet too...the peice that connects the motor to the flex cable)'
No need to run a teflon liner at all....
