Would this be considered a twin or single motor for SAW racing?????

My new designed motor for SAW racing. I use to combine a couple of quickdraw motors years ago w/ great results. Why can't a set of brushless be combined?? This is just a photo w/some 3674 leos. I'm going to combine a set of 4082 2200kvs w/ the wires from the side. What you think?? MaddMatt I need more power!!!!!

2 Leo motors $190 and a pair of T180's $160 plus a y cable from the RX to the escs = 8hp for under $400 dollars?? Sounds like a good combo to me. Comments please???

If your going to connect the rotors in series I would think a single speedo might be better. With one esc the sync (back emf/ timing) would be the same, where as with 2 they might tend to be off enough to effect eff. Would take a well supported and aligned motor mount as well. Could be interesting.

It certainly looks like 2 motors to me, but I see a rotor on the bench so it may actually be 1 motor and ballast, you may have to take the ballast apart to prove to techs that it isn't a motor if you were to set a record in a single motor class. Having thicker glass in the hull would be more useful ballast, not as cool looking though I guess.

Saw it done with a pair of Suppo outrunners last year on another forum. I seem to remember it not quite living up to it's expectations. A single bigger motor would be more efficient, although not quite as mean looking!
I don't remember how the esc's were dealt with. Not a member of those other forums anymore so I can't do a search on RCU or RCG, but positive it was on one of those so if you're a member you could try a search. Was in the electric boat section.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

My plan is to connect two brushless motors in series like a twin cyl. motor. It would have four ends(center connected), four bearing(two center and one at each end) and 2 rotors. Creating one sync. motor. 2 esc's acting like 2 coils on a 2 stroke one per side. I have a older retired buddy who is a high end machist that lives on my lake he says no problem. The frt end and end bell will be connected. Look at it this way. 2 motors and components combined as one are dividing the load. Example. 440cc 2 stroke twin and a 440 cc 2 stroke single. Can you get the same power. Maybe and if you did that single would be so radical it wouldn't last and the twin would still be running. Why did harley come out w/ the V twin and not make a 1550cc single?? Because at one point it becomes less efficient. Power to weight to reliablity. My 2 cents!! Its just money, MaddMatt. Can you run a twin zenoah in the single motor class at events???

One esc?? That would sycro. stuff but it would put all the effort on one thing. I'm trying to divide it. I might have to go one esc. MM

If you run in FE P,Q,S or T Offshore SAW classes are NO limits on the amount or size of motors. Go for it!. JIM

In the IMPBA you cannot run P class with multiple motors.

So Is it considered a twin or a single? Where are the definitions of a twin setup and a single?? Would like to review. This thing will have a solid rotor supported by middle caps and bearings. THanks, Matt

IMO If it has two stators, it is two motors.

When I'm done I would call it a leo 40164 or 40mm x 164mm with 2 power leads. Who do I call for the definitions regarding setups. I didn't see anything in the rules from either imbpa or namba regarding a solid rotor or single power leads.
