25 mono prince?

Hey guys, new to the rc boating world, I picked up a 25" prince I guess it is from a friend who hasnt ran it in a few years. He knew nothing about it but it runs on 4s, being new to boats I know nothing about it either so I was hoping to find some help.

It came with everything minus a rx and tx, he was unsure if it still ran (said he used it once and put it away back in 09). I got it, wanted to see if it still ran, so I threw in a spektrum rx and a lipo to see if I could get it on, but I cant get it to do anything. I am lost as to where to start, any help would be great.

when you plug in a lipo, you dont get any beeping or anything?

Nope, not even a spark or sound.

well i would say the esc has something wrong. looks like a hobbyking 125amp to me

Well without taking the yellow wrapping off, I can see come corrosion on the board where the motor wires soder on, guess you are right about the esc

i have one of these esc's for 35 shipped never used if youre interested.

you were right to check the connections first. maybe you could resolder a bad joint… could be something simple, or the esc could be fried

Pulled it all out except the motor, all the solder joints look good, just a small amount of corrosion on the board, I guess it would be best to replace everything but the motor and servo. The motor just says kv:2881 on it

you got a cheap chinese motor there.ive seen these motors in the cheap chinese boats. 2881kv is better suited to 3s. running it on 4s could damage the motor. i would now be suspicious if the motor has damage if it was run on 4s. a better quality motor you might be ok but this one? not so much.

Good point, I may have to look for a whole setup then haha. im invested $40 so far into it, not sure what these hulls go for but i assume it aint much.

if you got it for 40 bux, youre doing well. the hull and hardware looks decent, and ive seen these hulls go, they can handle some decent speed. i would ditch the motor first, the grab another esc and youll be good.

http://kintecracing.com/Prince_Upgrades.html check this out over at kintec. if you scroll to the bottom youll see the esc and motor you have. you got a 70 amp esc. in the middle of the page, youll see the turnigy 2300 kv motor. i use this motor on my ul1 on 4s and it rips! this motor will get you cranking and its only 50 bux. as for an esc? i have the 125amp esc, or you could grab a seaking 120 and youll be good

so thats 103 bux for esc and motor (plus whatever shipping is from kintec is) for a great reliable, affordable, and fassst setup

Awesome, thanks for the links! I will pick up the turnigy 2300kv and the seaking 120esc. Is there anything else I need to get to hook it all up in the boat and be rtr?
