    Nylon breakaway screw

Does any one know where I can get one for my genesis? I've looked everywhere.

Mine broke 1st time i took genesis out. went to local hardware store and got nylon screws and nylon bolts, bought 3 sets for extra's. Don't know if your local hardware store has those or not.
I will look for online link and let you know if I find something.

Thanks. I will go take a look down my local hardware store. I have some metal ones that will fit but I don't think it's worth the risk.

I have heard you can use trimmer line from a weed wackier. Just put it in the hole and squeeze the ends with a pair of pliers.

I've found some on eBay. Don't know why I couldn't before. Are they 3mm in diameter?

I just emailed a website ( http://www.plasticnutsandbolts.com ) and asked if they ship to UK.... will let you know when they reply
Do you know what size these are? I just took broken one to hardware store and matched it up, and forgot to look at size when I found them.

My local hardware store is 50 miles away, but I think I'm going to town today, so I can look at what size i got?

Lowes has them, but maybe not in your size, as wiyh mine I drilled out the hole alittle for them to have a tight fit.

I've used weed whacker line before, but as one side of the strut is threaded & the other larger for clearance, it leaves too much slop in rudder angle. Much better to use the right sized nylon screw for a tight fit. The're cheap - keep a handfull in your boat tool box. I don't agree with drilling out the tapped side, it just makes harder to get a snug fit. JIM

I bought a few from a shop called Jaycar, or Electus in australia, Dicksmith had them when they stocked electronics stuff.
they use them in circuit board manufacturing all the time

Can you make a slot on the rudder?
