Most of the time I use JB Weld for my motor and servo mounts. Not the quick cure version. Make sure your roughen up all surfaces before gluing. This is more important than the type of epoxy used. Also put some masking tape around the area your gluing before you lay down the epoxy and mount. After your done mounting, pull the masking tape up for a nice clean look.

I use finishing resin. Takes 3 hours to tack up, so it's damn strong

I've used something called plastic weld in the past and find that to be pretty good.

I've tried all kinds of "hobby store" epoxies. Switched to this and never looked back. Four hour set; 24 hour cure. You need a STRONG bond ? Use this :

          2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap
          2009/2010 NAMBA P-Sport Hydro Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder, '13 SCSTA P-Ltd Cat High Points
          '11 NAMBA [P-Ltd] : Mono, Offshore, OPC, Sport Hydro; '06 LSO, '12,'13,'14 P Ltd Cat /Mono

There is no substitute for West Systems if your a hobbiest. Even the fast cure is better than most of the hobby store stuff. The slow cure is forever. Cures like granite. The special clear is great too. I used that to soak into ply on my wood boats. Really works well. Includes wax though so if your painting go back to the slow cure. The only thing that might be close is MAS but I've not used that myself. I've heard good things about them though.

They have West on the shelf at West Marine stores. Not sure if those stores are everywhere though. I was running low and ordered more from US Composites.

You didn't ask but maybe it will help someone else. Pay attention to the surface you're adhereing too. If the surface your attaching to is fully cured you are actually making a mechanical bond. If it's too smooth the epoxy has nothing to attach too. Some resins have a wax (like special clear does) to ensure a complete cure. You try to glue to that and all is good until it experiences serious stress. Then it snaps right off. Yard sale in the boat. So clean the surface with alchohol before you glue anything in. I do this with velcro too. Helps some.

For those reading... Terry is talking about the West Systems 105 system. 105 is the resin and then you have several selections of the hardener’s (205, 206, 207)... Its a little different than what Tony showed a link to even though its made by the same company. However, with Tony’s past building experience I would assume that G-flex would work well too. It probably depends on the application...

There is a lot more information about West Systems here... http://www.westsystem.com/ss/the-105-system/

Here is a good place to buy West Systems products if you can buy them locally... http://www.jamestowndistributors.com

Check out their variety of fillers... This stuff will work with any epoxy as a thicken/strength agent.

                Later,
                Mike

West is just a high dollar middle man with fancy label and sales pitch. I can buy the RAKA brand for half the price.
Mix the 350 hardener and 167 low viscosity finishing resin with Silica to thicken. For easy sand filler mix with micro ballons

No pumps are needed. For easy pouring of epoxy I purchased two small squeeze bottles at HobbyLobby
For easy measuring/mixing of epoxy I use epoxy graduated measuring cups.

Syringes work good for tight places or precise work. Injecting epoxy into drilled cavity.
