Heres a link to the IW outboard forum and info from a lot of guys who will be racing FE tunnels at the Charleston World Tunnel Champs this comming weekend.
It may seem at first that this post should be in the FE forum but after I thought about it, I realized that it really belongs here in the O/B forum. Tunnel guys thinking about trying FE will find this info here easier than looking through the general FE forum threads. Choosing motors and esc is...

I recently picked up a used woodstuff hull that was modified to run FE. Others modify an Aquacraft VS1 hull. If you are looking for a high quality kit that is FE ready, then check out Mike's PS295:

This hull is on my christmas list...

I have a PS295 with OS outboard, UL1 motor. My son recently bought a used Dumas Hot Shot hull and is thinking about putting a Proboat outboard on it. He is also thinking about ordering a 2nd generation Cobra hull with the FE radio box.

Start with a hull. A ps295 or vs1 are great boats. Vs1 needs some converting and ps295 is ready to go. The vs1 is a bit more cost effective, as the ps295 start at 135 for unbuilt kit.

Indeed, talk to cyberxt. He sells the laser cut wood kits of the ps295 for $135 I think. Nice nice boats

You know what I think, (I Love it) It is a little small (27.5inches) but we win all the time with it. I prefer the fiber glass version, styrene needs to be built up a little to work FG liner.

Some day I might do a little larger wood kit, But for now I am building a garage and 16 or so boats.

This is the first OPC race for the year and I am dialing in my boat. Since then I went to the same offset like Bills boat in the lead. My plan by the Nats to have this boat competition ready Bill is in the lead Jim in second and I am trailing. Bill wore out my ABS boat so I have an new never raced boat.
