Good First Run with the Daytona, fried the Collet tho...

Went back to the pond tonight with the Daytona after flat spotting the flex shaft for the drive dog and man am i happy with it's performance!! First run with with a TFL 444 prop, ran very well, checked all temps and nothing was hot, ESC was barely luke warm, same with the motor. Everything was so cool i never even got my laser thermometer out. Handeling was excellent, ride attitude seemed right on. So, feeling lucky i moved up to an Octura X447 prop and it didn't seem to like it. Started out good, faster than the 444 but it sounded a little funny after a little while. I brought it in thinking that it must have caught a weed or leaves on the rudder or shaft, looked ok so i sent it back out. It started to slow down but the motor rpm's went up so i limped it back to shore. I could smell something burning and worry set in. Turns out the shaft was slipping really bad in the collet, and the collet was HOT!! The smell was some of the grease burning off. Nothing else was hot at all, just the collet. So far i have not got the drive shaft out, it spins in the collet and the collet loosend right up, but the shaft will not slide out. I don't think i hurt anything but the shaft and collet. Anyways, i think i'll move back to maybe an X445 or maybe an X645. What do you guy's think?? See video thread here :http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...first-full-run!! Look like it's running good?

Looks like it was workin pretty well for you. Did it damage the shaft on the motor or just the flex?

Not sure yet, haven't taken it apart. I doubt it hurt the motor shaft, it was the flex that was slipping in the collet, but once i get it apart we'll see!
