Adjusting to keep nose up a tad?

Ok guys lookin for a little advise here.

Went to the lake today to open up the Daytona. I found that until about 80 percent throttle the boat rode nice and smooth with a little bit of porpusing only between 1/4 and half throttle. Once I began to open it up though it seemed to want to force the nose down a little bit to much.

It seemed to not really go any faster between 80 percent and above throttle but it was making more noise and throwing more water.

    Setup is
    4082 1600kv
    Seaking 180
    3s Zippy 45C 5000 packs running at 6s1p
Strut is set even with the bottom of the sponsen
    M445 Prop

I moved the strut both up a tad and down a tad but it seems like it did the best when set right where I had it. I figured next time out I would move battery packs a bit and see.

I think your on the right track. Move the weight back some if possible. Sounds like your prop is coming out of the water and your just cavitating more. Keep us posted.

Raise prop shaft untill bottom is even with hull, move CG with LIPO placement. May adjust angle of prop shaft as needed. JIM

move the propshaft up a little and move the batteries back. the propshaft needs to be above the bottom of the hull, this will make it stop porposing. the batteries moved back will lighten the bow, you want it as light as possible, without crashing of course

Ok guys..... After looking at some of the pics from gimps cat he had and a few others I see that they have their batteries placed a bit further back compared to mine. I will start there and see how it goes! Thanks for the replys!

It's not just about the batteries, the prop shaft ( angle and height) affects the overall ride too.

ok so I went out to the lake over the weekend and had some different results. I moved the batteries about a 1/3 of the way further back then what I had them and I noticed that the boat seemed light in the front but it seemed like it was almost to light since I could not go wide open still since now it was riding on the back of the hull a bit and kinda rocking back and forth as it went along. I had calm water so I dont think that was the issue. Next time out I think I will move the batteries up a touch more and see if I can find a happy medium. Other people watching it thought it was riding nice but they were running the boat so they dont understand that I have a TON more trigger to go lol

Maybe I will try to post a pic of where the prop shaft is set right now.

If the batteries are located central on the trays on your photo, then that's a lot farther back than I have my 3S batteries. Looks like you may have got them too far back now. Haven't got a photo to hand, but the REAR of my batteries are about level with the rear of the 4082 motor. Batteries may be a bit different weight of course and motor position may be a bit different, but my batteries are still a lot further forward than yours. I think you may have mentioned in a previous thread where your C of G was originally. Mine is at 33% measured from rear of sponson to front of sponson (not from the transom), and the boat rides well at all speeds with a top of around 60mph.

wow well I must have the WAY to far back if that how yours is riding. My battery trays are set 7 1/4 inches from the rear of the tray to the end of the sponsen and 7 inches from the rear of the motor to the end of the sponsen? Could someone tell me what the COG would be at this point? Maybe sitting forward is better and I should be adjusting the strut some?

It's not possible to determine where the COG is from this information - too many variables. You need to set the boat up as if your were ready to give it a run and find the position along the hull where the boat balances level. (Don't forget to put the hatch cover on - this also effects the COG point).

Distance from rear of sponson to COG/Total length of sponson x 100 = %
(Total length is measured from rear of sponson to the very front pointy bit)

Somewhere between 30% to 35% is probably the accepted range for Genesis/Daytona.

ok I come up with 10 inches from back of sponsen to the point of balance.

and it looks to be about 33 inches from tip to back I would say
