    Mono help

    Hi,
I sold off a few of my RC planes and have been reading up on boats for the last few months. I'm in the market for a cat and mono hull FE.
I have the mono selection down to two used options. Im going
To try my hand a building a cat. All boats will be for sport use in calm to light chop conditions. Just wanted to see some experienced guys opinions on the two boats I'm looking at. Let me know your thoughts....
    First
    28" self righting Toysport Syncron
AquaCraft Brushless B36 Motor (1800kv) with 5mm Motor Shaft.
    Aquacraft 45 amp speed controller
    JR Z270 servo

    Second
    26" fightercat bling rocket
    It's a 4074 1050kv Leopard motor, Turnigy 80HV ESC & 5a BEC
CF Inlay, Wire drive, 95mm rudder, fast mini servo, turn fins & a 40mm prop installed.*!**

Really leaning towards the fightercat because the whole package seems to be setup perfect. The self righting hull and quality of the Syncron is very appealing as well.

Are you sure you have the KV right on the Leopard motor? At 1050kv you will need to run a 6S setup vs. 4S setup.

If you are just starting out you might want to "standardize" on a certain lipo config as the batteries can get expensive, and select boat configs that go around it. For example, I have 3 boats that are set up to run 4S config (2 are 4S1P and 1 is 4S2P). I have 12 2S 5000 packs so can use all of these lipos on all 3 boats.

So either go all 4S using 2S packs, or all 6S using 3S packs. 4S is a lot cheaper than 6S, especially if you use high quality lipo packs like hyperion. They are also thinner and are easier to fit into smaller hulls.

If you wanted 4S, then on the fightercat you'd want a 4074 leopard 1800-2000KV motor.

Both boats are mono hulls. I'm building a cat after this mono purchase.
The fightercat bling is a mono and is setup for long run times
Previous owner ran with two 5s/30c/3300mah packs in series for 10s. Runs forever.*!**
It's designed to be a high voltage low amp setup for extremely long run time. 20+ minutes.*!**
I agree about the battery communization though.
The bling would generally run on 8s. 2 4s in series.

20+ minutes is insanely long runtime.... You sure that's correct? 5-8 minutes is standard and considered long for FE boats I think.

Ya that's what the boat was designed for. Long run times.
It's a high voltage low amp setup ment to run 8s or 10s

I'm curious how 4s2p fits in the fightercat hull.... Four 2s packs? Or two 4s packs? My Df 26 is similar hull, and there's not much room in there

Any idea in speeds with such a low KV motor ?

Depends how much voltage you put into it. 8s should get you high 40s To low 50's but don't quote me on that

The calculator I use (forgot who on this forum provided it) says for a mono hull, 1.4 pitch 40mm prop 8S on 1050 KV motor = 44mph

But I don't see how on earth you get 20min runtime with that speed on a 1P config <5000mah. I bet 4-5min...

i could be wrong, but if this guy is an experienced fe racer claiming 20 minutes runtime on that setup, i would be weary about the entire boat.
