    Prop thrust bearings

I am new to this hobby and I believe I am missing a component, which would be some kind of thrust bearing (solid or roller) between the prop and stinger...?

If so, can someone post a link to a common part used for .187 drives?

    Thanks.

Most of us take the thrust on the motor bearings. With a flex cable, that is the only way to insure that the cable is not in a stretched state, it works great, is easier, and costs nothing as long as the motor has good bearings. Some put a separate thrust bearing between the motor and the motor coupler if the motor bearings are questioinable. I do not recommend usiong a thrust bearing between the drive dog and the strut, although some insist on doing this.

So, the flex cable is cut to a length such that when fully engaged in the coupler there is a small gap between the prop dog and the stinger? Then when the prop loads up, it puts the flex cable in compression, transferring the force from the prop thrust to the motor shaft?

If this is the norm, what is the standard gap between the dog and stinger? 1/16"?, 3/32"?

about the width of the cable at rest.
