Waterproofing esc- caps?

When waterproofing an esc with liquid electrical tape should one leave the tops of the caps uncovered? Maybe for better cooling? All of the escs I have seen have the caps uncovered and I was wondering why...

caps can vent when they heat up too much, usually just before the go pop! Not really sure if leaving the end uncovered will make much difference, once they vent they are on the way out, usually they swell first, sometimes they just leak smelly yellowish stuff.
Personally I just cover the leads and leave the rest of the cap uncovered, figure it will cool a little better.

I used hot glue on the esc and over the top of the caps.

Those little lines on the top are the vents to vent the cap before the pressure gets too high. I have seen a single cap explode and blow the hatch off of 36" boat!!
Cut or scrape the hot glue off those vents or change the cap.
