Indentification Help

Hi all...like I posted in my "Help choose" thread. Im in the market for my first boat. I found this boat local and was wondering if you guys recognize the hull. The owner couldnt remember the maker. It is a 28" self righting mono. Specs are
AquaCraft Brushless B36 Motor (1800kv) with 5mm Motor Shaft.
Aquacraft 45 amp speed controller
JR Z270 servo
IS this a suitable first boat setup ? Do you guys see any issues ? Rough guess on speeds ?
Figured I would ask the experts before purchasing. What do you feel this setup would be worth ?

great first boat i think being self righting lots of u tube videos and i think steve v. has or had one, i dont see any issues and speed could be 35- 40 mph with that motor on 4s1p lipo

what its worth i know that hull is not cheap and i feel way over priced for a small fiberglass full, the only way to know if your getting a good deal list what hes asking and everybody can give there opinion

He is asking 300 with 6, 2s lipos
The lipos have quite a few cycles on them
though. Same price as a used miss geico with the stiletto 1800kv motor and 60amp esc.

I think that's a great deal! This is an awesome boat- built like a tank and can be configured to run very fast. It was my first boat, I still have it and it is my favorite.

It needs fairly smooth water to run fast since it is a shallow V, you'll be thankful it has a flood chamber. Mine is low 50's at the moment for sport running with low temps with my setup (2200KV Neu motor, cc240esc, x442 or m440 prop).

How about the electronics ? Isn't a 45amp esc small ?
Will I hit 40 with a decent prop with that 1800kv motor?

Note, my cc240 esc is way overkill-- I was thinking of eventually running 6S on in when I bought it, but I just can't see the boat going any faster than it is right now and keeping it on the water... plus I would have a hard time fitting 2 x 3S packs with my particular layout due to the flood chamber.

The hull is on the narrow side, so you want a smaller diameter prop + a relatively higher KV motor-- I initially built it with a 1500KV motor with a large prop (got all the way up to a 648 at one point!) , but ended up with chine walking due to the prop torque (I don't want to run any trim tabs). Then I swapped the 1500KV motor for a 2200KV motor and dropped the prop down to 440 and 442, handles much better and is also much faster.

I think any "540 size" motor (neu 1515, leopard 4074, aquacraft 36mm, proboat 36mm, feigao 540) in the 1800 to 2200kv range would work well for 4S1P. I think the ESC is a little light, but for that 1800kv motor and a smaller prop you might be ok, I bet you hit 40 with it. Try an x440 prop, run for a few minutes, bring it back in and check the temps.

For 50mph range, I'd go with either the neu 1515 (I've had several of these), but I hear the leapard 4074 is pretty good too (have not tried that) 2000-2200kv. I think the aquacraft or proboat motors are a bit small for that speed on a mono hull but would be fine for 40.

If you eventually fry the ESC I'd stick a 120A in there and you'll have all the headroom you need for a 4S config.

I have a tunnel and shovelnose projects in the works now, using the UL1 and proboat motors, and using the proboat 60A ESC, but I think mono hulls take more amps to push thru the water...

To simplify my ramblings-- here are 2 configs I would think about for 4S1P:

For 40MPH config use aquacraft or proboat 36mm 1800KV motor, and your current ESC. If your ESC eventually dies, try 60A-120A to replace it.

For 50MPH config use neu 1515 or leapord 4074 2200KV motor, and 120A ESC.

I'd try x440 prop on either setup to start.

Thanks appreciate the info....Here is a list of props he has as well. Any others i should try besides the x440 ?

How would this boat hold up against a stock impulse 31 ?
Still havent ruled out the Geico yet either. Anyone have any input on this boat vs the geico.

The hull quality difference between a proboat and a toysport is night and day (I like proboats, but the hulls are mass produced, RTR quality). Me personally, I would take a used toysport over a new proboat any day (I also have a used toysport triton 31" mono-- my son runs that boat).

The toysport hull is hand made, super strong, high quality gel coat finish, zero flex. I don't think you can find a higher quality mono hull this size.

I've stuffed this hull at 50+ many times, never once has the hatch even come off since the hull is so stiff. With cheaper hulls, if you crank up the speed and stuff it, you risk tearing the boat apart.

On the prop, try the x440/3. I would not go higher than 42mm, else you'll start to see some chine walking and it won't handle as well in the turns. I don't have experience with the Prather props so I can't advise you on that one. I've run x440, m440, x442, x637, x640 on the 2200KV motor (the x640 got my connectors too hot). For 1800KV the x442 I bet would be spot on, but I don't think your ESC can handle that, so start smaller.

Im hoping to pick this up in the next week or so.
Pumped to get it home and setup.
Again Im new...I see people stuffing there hulls with foam and pool noodles...is this necessary ?

Yes, pool noodle works great. If the hatch comes off and the boat floods, it will sink.

Also add a bit of flotation to the hatch.

I would advise against foam-in-a-can. It is messy, can't "move" it around, and if applied wrong can split the hull when it expands. Also, some foam retains water and gets heavy-- pool noodles avoid all these issues.
