genesis single struggling with speed help me out

ok guys im playing with my first rc boat all my buddies bought spartans but i wanted a cat so ive bought the genesis

    heres my setup

    tacon 3674 1300kv
    skywing (6s) 200a esc 200a contnous 220a burst
    running 2x6s long pack parralel 25-35c 5000mah

    i tried these two props
    tr-42-29-15 is 42 divided by 29 = 1.44 (pitch ratio)
    42mm or 1.65" x 1.44 = 2.37"

    tr-43-26-9 would be
    43mm or 1.69" x 1.65 = 2.78"
(as long as my calculations are right)
i know the plastic props are crap i broke couple of them in one day but its for testing when i get it right ill buy 2-3 metal props

the balance is set to 13.25" from the far back of the hull and there wasnt much of a rooster tail no hopping nice and steady i thought it could have had more rooster but the drive is all the way up can go higher without notching the opening after 10min everything was cool to touch

heres the problem my friends with spartans on 6s just fly by me if i had to guess 5-8mph faster when i use the speed calc on OSE it shows that id have to go to a huge prop to run 50+ like an m645,x648
    in that range

let me know where you think the proplem is i think i either need more prop or more kv motor to keep up with them or more cells but i want to stay 6s since i bought two sets of them and the esc is 6s at best lol

    thanks matt

It could be the batteries, in my drifter cat (36") last year I was running a 1400 kv on 6s. When I was running my nano techs which were 4500 25-50c's it was pretty slow and I ended up puffing them but with my gens ace 5000 40-80's it was a different beast! And ran cooler.

i doubt its that 2x6s 5000mah in parallel is 10000mah 25-35c is alot 250a-350a theres no way the system requires more plus the spartans run on 2x6s parallel 5000mah 20c so even weaker then mine

      thanks matt

My bad, I was thinking 6s 1p, that will teach me to pay more attention, lol. Did you try moving the batteries back? One of the guys I run with has a spartan and with my set up I'm as fast if not faster and my motor was a cheaply hobby king xk series and I'm running a x442 prop. Im not too familiar with the effects of the plastic prop, maybe they flex at high rpm?

yah i tried moving them as far back as i can but since they are the long packs you dont get much to move up and down but the balance seemed good not sure about the plastic props but again the spartans run on the stock plastic 42mm props too im gonna notch the strut bracket so that i can move the shaft more up right now its flush with the sponsoons but maybe its too low since the ass sits pretty low with the weight of the 6s batteries

it kinda makes sense that the spartans are faster they run a 42mm prop 6s and a 1700kv motor(i think) so in theory they should be faster even based on the kv difference

if i input the number into the speed calculator i get this

spartan 1700kv, prop pitch ratio 1.4, diameter 42mm , 6s it gives me speed of 56mph which seems about right

genesis 1300kv prop pitch ratio 1.4, diameter 42mm , 6s it gives me speed of 43mph which seems about right

genesis 1300kv prop pitch ratio 1.6, diameter 43mm , 6s it gives me speed of 50mph which seems about right

so i guess if i go with that everything is good except i want more speed lol

You're comparing apples and oranges. They run v hulls and you're running a cat?!?! What are their setups? If you want to go faster just say so lol. Try a bigger motor with more rpm to start. That's a 40" hull yes?

I run a 6s Genesis and with a leopard 4082 1600kv and an x443 it runs about mid 50's which is plenty for me, maybe upgrade the motor to something larger like mentioned earlier

37" hull i know what youre saying that theyre two different boats but i thought the genesis with my setup should do 50+ but maybe im wrong

                  spartan setups

stock with cooling mods on 6s and trim tabs

I think it's 37" where did you get those props from? The reason I ask is cos I ordered an 440 prop from hobby king fit my venom p1 and it was rubbish. I changed to an octura x640 and the boat was a different beast. I run a genesis on 4s using a 4074 2000kv motor running an x642 prop, when it's cold I can get away with an x645 and that has a lot of prop.

                    Is yours faster than that?
As said I think you would benefit from a bigger motor and maybe more prop ie an m445

i got the props from HK just to try mine is not faster than yours might be around there id say 45mph and i think youre right i just dont have the motor for more i either need o run 8s or get a 1700-1900 kv 4082 and run 42-47mm props depending on water temps etc.

I would dump those hobbyking props and go with an octura or Prather. Something like that. Yours should be faster than mine really.

that was the plan to see which prop to get it sucks testing props with $40 props(since i cant do the sharpening myself) which one do i get

James,Why should his be faster? You're running 4s on 2000kv with larger can. You have torque and rpm advantage.

With a 1300 kv I would get 1.6 pitch. Maybe x642 or larger. I think you're motor is too small to start with
