    Prop Questions

I know this may have been asked before, but I have a x431 prop, and I know the x6** are 10% more pitch, but what about a X531. Is that 5% more then a x4? I'm just curious so I will know how to tune a little better as when I can use this prop over a x4 series.

Also, does anyone balance, polish and sharpen props, I just want to see how much it is, becasue I don't feel like buying a balancer and doing it right now. I mostly use the plastic props but do have the brelliyum ones, and would like to make them optimal.

First wrong assumption, an x6** has 20% more pitch than an x4**.

Nope. The y5** has 10% more pitch than an x4**.

The balancing and sharpening of the copper props takes time (30 mins-2hrs). I first sand the blades starting with medium and going to fine sand paper, at the end you will see the blades polished. Then I sharpen the edges with needle file or Dremel carefully. Finally I use a custom made balancer as per attached file:

I put the propeller in a 3/16 copper tube (perfectly straight) a couple of times and see if propeller rests in same position or different. If rests in same position with one blade down then it means you have more weight in that blade, sand a bit off and so on until the prop is balanced.

Of course there a few articles in the web for prop.balancing one is here:
