    Vegas hydro tuning.

Does anybody know of a nice write up that discusses , in depth how to identify problems with how a hull is running and what to do to try and correct it.

Right now the boat will just dive into the water at high speed, I assume i need to get the back lower and the front higher so the front sponsons aren't catching, causing me to submarine.

Main question would be how does the pos/neg angle of the turnfin affect lift on the corresponding sponson (the right one)? I'm talking both fore to aft and port to starboard.

on the vegas i measured a rake of 37 degree on the outside of the sponson, I read some people like to match that angle with the fin but it makes turning left a nightmare. Jerry dunlap said he ran his fin tucked under at 5* That is where i had mine set but changed it to more like 15 after the first unsuccessful run and have yet to make another attempt. I had the bottom of the fin parallel to the bottom of the sponson.

Should i be lowering the trailing edge of the fin (front to back), neg angle or doing the opposite, pos angle. I'm not sure if these work the same as the rudder angle.

set up is a 4074 2000 kv on 4s2p gens ace 4000 mah 25-50 c so 8000 mah total. Boat weighs 6lbs 1.4 oz with batts and everything. I ran it today with a detounged grim 42x55. 1 degree pos on strut, 7/8 from bottom. 1* pos on the rudder. CG was set as close to the middle of the fin as i could get it.

Any links or tips would be much appreciated. Nationals is quickly approaching and i cant even get down the straight away. Seemed like it was turning good though.

Mine was doing the same thing with that power set-up, unless it was GLASS smooth water. The sponson tips are very low profile on that hull and any transfer of weight forward (either by throttle let up or wave, etc...) caused the tips to dip. If you move the weight to the back, it blows over. Not what you want to hear, but I ended up putting UL-1 electronics in with lighter batts and it hasn't done it since. It's a real dog though. I've since put the higher power system in a PT stealth hull and all troubles are over.......much taller sponsons.

Other than that, I'm all ears and if you can get your Vegas to stop dipping with that system, let me know!!!

Not what I wanted to hear at all. Maybe a sponson mod is in order. Doing some more testing today. Will report back.
