    Is this worth it?

    Hi all:

I'm new to boats and I have this older fiberglass hull that used to have an .15 glow outboard on it. I got rid of all my glow planes and did not want to try and figure out the glow boat. I figured that one day I would convert it to electric.

So here's my info on the boat. It is a tunnel hull, 26" long and weighs 2lb 13oz, the way you see in the pics. Nothing in it.

First of all, should I just trash it or is it worth going forward with?
    \
If it is ok, what kind of drive system should I be looking for?

Any and all info is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

i can't really help you on a setup becuase im new at boats too, but if you have the money to spend on it, i would get this thing running. if you don't have the money then i would ether hold on to it till you do or just sell the hull.

I have 3 FE tunnels , And I really like them.
Unless you really like tunnels , I'd suggest you buy a RTR SV 27 or Black Jack 26and learn about FE boats.
You'll have much more money invested in just the FE outboard power system then you will in either of these boats ready to run with radio .
And those old hulls didnt handle very good even then.
        Thats my advice

Dick is right on the money. That hull may be able to perform well, but it will take someone with experience to do it, and even then it may be marginal. I suggest you sell it on eBay and use the money towards a good RTR, or at least towards a hull that is easy to build as an electric. You will be time, money and fun ahead!

            Thanks guys,

That is pretty much what I was expecting. I think I will save my money for an SV27. They are easy to come across all over. How do they perform out of the box? I have never seen one run.

            Thanks for the info.
By the way, anyone looking for a hull? I will give it to anyone who pays the shipping.

They run Excellent out of the box with a little trimming.
There are things that can be improved for durability , handling , and speed.
Some of them are slow getting on plane and need a prop change.
Some of the radios glitch badly. There are lots of threads on the forums to read.
OSE sells adjustable trim tabs and turn fins that help handling.
best advice , glue some foam flotation to the hatch ( fiberglass sinks ), and seal the hatch with tape when you run. They are fast enough to get upside down
