Will my flex stand up to big power?

    Im putting together an Osprey.

Currently Im going to drop a Little Screamers Hurricane motor into it. Allegedly 8,000+ watts of power? Its 650kv and I intend to run on 10~12S. Im also entertaining trying a TP Power 5692 1000kv motor 5700 Watts.

Is a 3/16" Flex going to take it?

In my 32" people told me to ditch the .150 in for the 3/16" so it wont break. Its powered by a 4074 Leopard rated around 2600 Watts.

The boat already has an "upgraded" 3/16" stinger. Im not sure what the make of the hardware is off hand. Pic attached.

This is a 41" boat, 10S is just fine. With just 650 Kv he would be awfully slow on just 6S. A 10S1P/5000mAh setup weighs less than a 6S2P/5000mAh setup.

However, the OP should realize that he will not be running an average of 8000 watts in his setup. That would mean pulling well over 200 amps on 10S - can you say smoking motor and ESC? The advantage of running 10S is a lower amp draw giving lower temperatures, longer run time, and fewer burned up components. The extra weight can be your friend, it helps keep high-lift boats on the water at high speed. I love it when folks with no inexperience running high voltage setups try to tell others what won't work......

I'm getting over 60 mph on 6s 2p 10000mah with Leo 4082 1600 and 48 prop 7min run time or so varm ish but far from hot. With a 5692 650kv you should run 12s no problem and big prop. Hard to keep this boat in the water as it is. Rew up slowly and you should be fine with 3/16 cable

Go with 1/4" cable that has the 3/16 stepdown to allow use of 3/16 bore props...................

I'd go with Make-a-Wake's 1/4" - 3/16" stepdown drive. The stinger setup is too nice to just toss in the "un-used stuff" box. JIM

A 3/16 cable should push that hull no sweat. I went 70s with the same size hull and never had an issue with the 3/16 shaft.

I have my build coming up and this question also gets me.
                        3/16 or 1/4???
The step down idea made sense at first to me but a 3/16 prop cannot be slid up a 1/4 cable so that would mean the bullet end would have to be undone everytime, correct or not?
I always loctite or superglue my bullet ends or nyloc nuts in place and that's where they stay.

I'm going to be using a 5682 motor or 8s

The 1/4" flexes stepped to 3/16" is on the last bit where the prop is only, right?

Or am I missing some magical flex cable?

I got the motor today. The nerd inside me wants to open it up and make a CAD package of it to make another... Its nice, its HUGE!

                              So If I go with the 1/4 cable with a 3/16 end I need a 1/4 stuffing tube and a 3/16 stinger?

                              Please advise.
