Cooling Issues --> Water flow = Little to None

Having an issue for the past few times out with one of my boats (my formula fastech) where it is de-soldering the esc to motor connectors..it actually did the esc to battery connectors first, but I changed them out from deans to 4mm bullets and now it did the esc to motor wires.

I noticed no water flow coming out the side of the boat, so I brought it in and noticed there was water in the lines...up to the motor, after that nothing...problem found

So I unhooked the lines before the motor and blew through it, seemed to be able to blow through it just fine, then I hooked it up to the motor and it became very hard to blow through it, so this must mean there is corrosion or something in the motors water jacket causing it to not flow well.

I know that running it in salt water and not getting the cooling lines force flushed out properly one of the times a while back is the cause..so bad part on my end..

I now will be using salt-away to flush the cooling system with a syringe (stuff we flush our real boats motor with)

What can I do to fix this? I was thinking of forcing CLR or Lime away through the lines and let it sit in them overnight. Any other ways to clear it out? Is their a different water jacket I can buy that fits my motor if I can't get it flowing?

    Thanks for any help!

Remove the jacket and clean the crud from it and re install it. Clean the fittings and anything you can.

      hey dood
Ive been running my boats in salt water for ages, all you have to do is after your run, loosen all your bolts a bit, hose everything out with fresh water, then get a can of WD40 with the tube nossel bit, shove that in your water exit spray a bit in. then blow over the hole so it forces the WD40 around your water lines and into the cooling jacket. youll have no problems!

I took the jacket off like suggested, I didn't realize it was just sealed to the motor with gaskets, I thought it was a sealed metal jacket that simply surrounded the motor which is why I was trying to figure out how to clean the "inside" of it out.

After getting it off I found a bunch of salt build up..no corrosion, just lots of salt, and the inlet side of the jacket had salt plugging the fitting, outlet side was slightly plugged. I got everything all cleaned up and after putting it together it is easy to blow through it now. Going to take it out tonight hopefully and give it a try to see if my problem is cured.

        Thanks for the suggestions!
