    Question Nobody Asked

QUESTION: if your boat motor has 3.5mm plugs, and your esc 4mm, is it advisable to use them together, if you just tape them together real tight ... especially if it worked just fine when you tested it out on dry land?

    ANSWER: "NO."

obvious LESSON: your boat's gonna get stuck in the middle of the lake. any time i KNOW i'm doing something quick, dirty and questionable (like this today, or trying to push my way through to a partly blocked bolt, instead of removing what's in the way), i'll almost surely come to regret it.

anybody else here knowingly do stuff like this?

Started the coffee maker, but forgot to put the carafe in place, then left to go finish getting dressed,------ AGAIN!
I've done a few, "quick, dirty, and questionable" things in my time, and frankly, if my wife were as frisky as she was some thirty years ago, ----- oh wait, you were talking boats, sorry, carry on.

I know a boater who used brass tubing. The 2 differnet sizes were a tight fit and he taped the 2 together after each piece was soldered like we do normally. I didn't stick around to see results.

Me too. Most of the bullets on my batteries have burn marks on them.
Rushed putting a boat back together and forgot to hook up one of the cooling hoses to the esc. All I know is that my water pickup works GREAT!
Or, have taped up the boat to find I didn't hook the battery up. At least I didn't burn the battery bullets on that one.

done all those things, killed a few batts, flooded out a boat. I try not to get impatient anymore, even if it means not putting my boat in the water. Planes taught me that lesson also, patient is a virtue. If you don't have time to do it right the first time you will definitely have time to do it right the second.
