I recently picked up a Rivercat hull and hardware from Ben at Fightercat. I had the first run yesterday and noticed something strange. while cruising, there was water spraying upwards from the rudder assembly area. At first I thought the cooling line may have a small hole in it but it was fine. Its also fastened snug by clamps to both the rudder and water inlet entering the hull. The strange thing is the fact the water outlet is on the side of the boat. Has anyone seen this before. there is plenty of water circulating through the ESC and the motor cooling can. someone mentioned it maybe the prop causing this. I am running an m445 on this setup.
Any help is appreciated.

Interesting that you bring this up. I'm experiencing a similar phenomenom on a 30" mono I've been testing. Coincidentally I'm also running an M445, but I don't think that has anything to do ith it. In the vid you can see how the roostertail goes up quite high (seen best as the boat goes from right to left in the foreground). I'm up about 3 deg. positive on the strut but not sure that has anything to do with it; the upward spray appears to be coming from the left side of the rear.

I am no boat expert by all means however can the height of the strut have anything to do with it. I havent adjusted mine yet. Its currently setup at almost 0 deg. My video quality sucks but I dont seem to see that effect when running at full speed.

There is one very small point in a water propellers revolution where the waters density is less, (closest to the surface), thus allowing the water being moved, or thrown, to travel farther. On a prop spinning counter clockwise this point would be on the left at almost its' apex, (almost straight up). On an airplanes prop this, "phenomenon" cannot occur for the airs density remains the same at every degree of rotation.

Are you running the Fightercat studder? Theres a small gap in front of and behind where the strut mounts to the bracket assembly. Water will shoot up there like a rooster tail on a ski doo. It's normal, but you can fill those holes with silicone (or block them in another manner) once you have the strut where you want it if you desire to.

I think thats exactly what you referring to. Is it coming from where you adjust the strut height? What is the downside of leaving it alone. I dont care if the water is shooting up as long as it has no other effect on the water flow fed from the rudder

It won't hurt anything. I filled the gap on my River and didn't pick up any speed, so I really don't think it makes a difference. It's just a spot that focuses the spray into a small stream, that's why you notice it.
