    Need suggestion for Pursuit motor

Got a Pursuit from a Forum member, boat is new, I think the motor is Leo 4082, 2200Kv. Anyway, when I twist the prop, the cogging is a bit uneven, most notches are crisp, there are just one or two seemed to be a bit un-articulated. I have the same motor in my Miss Geico, it seems to run stronger/faster ( both use 4s set-up)
Question: should I get a new motor, and if yes, I like Leo 4082, but which Kv, 2000 or 2200?
The boat runs like it's on rails, very stable, but with x442 and x640 ( only props I have at the moment) , it is only at 38.3mph---a bit slow, it is not running too wet either. Temp. is cool, no problems there.
Too many boats, not enough time...

Why not take the motor out of your geico and try it in the pursuit first. That should tell you if the motors shot.

Thought of doing that, the only thing is motor mount has been modified and taking it out now might mean a rebuild, was just thinking out loud. Thanks for the suggestion though.

So you are only hittin' 38 mph with a Leopard 4082 2200kv on 4s????????? I'm getting low 50's out of mine which is the same setup using an m445. I do run 2p however, the 4082 sucks amps, if you dont supply them it will suffer.

Thanks for the info. I gotta still tie the motor mount down and everything else internally. I almost bought some 4000 packs. Glad I didnt now.

The Leopard 4074 seems to be more effiecient than the 4082.................there's a big jump in amp draw up to the 4082 2200kv. But, the 4074 still needs the juice, 40c and 5000mah give you 200amps constant availability to feed the motor. I run 2p with my 4082 cuz 1p just doesnt get it done.................I run two 4s 45c 4000's in parallel, which equates to 4s 8000mah at 360amps constant.

I plan to run 4s parallel, but was going to order 5000mah. If you are running 4000mah at 360 amps constant, would that be too much ( 5000mah, 40 C ) for the 180A Seaking ESC?
Since the mount is a modified one, its length is only good for a 4082. But it's good to know the 4074 is a bit more efficient, thanks !

The batts and ESC only provide what the motor asks for.......................best to have more amps available than not enough which leads to blown ESC's and bloated lipos.
