need some advice on 7 volt Villian

Just picked up a Traxxas Villain. It is the older 7 volt version with an XL10 speed control and stock motors. I didn't get an owner's manual with it and I could use some help on setting this old gal up. This is going to be my retrieval boat with some occasional fun running so it doesn't have to be crazy fast, just reliable with decent run time.

Will it handle a 2s lipo?

Is there a preferred lube for the drives and gearboxes?

The outdrives are not adjustable, but it seems like there is a lot of AoA on them, is that normal?

    Any suggestions welcome,

    Thanks,

    Scott

Looks like it's in great shape.
They make a great retrieval boat they are super maneuverable with the outdrives. It should be fine with a 2s lipo there is room for two in parallel. You should add a LV cutoff and one of those cheap LV alarm/buzzers. They include silicone (looks like shock oil for RC cars) for lubing the driveshafts but I've just been using CorrosionX when I ran out.
There is some adjustment in the driveshafts, you loosen the nut and the 1.5mm hex on the rods.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I will get a couple of 2s batteries on order. One last newb question...Is there a certain way to wire the LV cutoff to work with 2 batteries in parallel?

Here's a page you can select your setup with LVC for a wiring diagram.

That is very helpful. Although my speed control differs from the EVX2 in the diagram I think I can utilize that setup with the LV cutoff and my XL10 controller.
