    Neumotor wires to be shorten?

i recently purchase black neumotor 1515 is it ok that i shorten the 3 wires exiting from the can say about an inch? i read somewhere it is not recommended while some say its alright that CC motor can be done
i believe the 3 wires are insulated with silicon from my black motor appears to be flimsy and flexible. The ends are tinned with solder.

I say yes.It is a bit hard to do it and you need to torch them just the tip. Then a good cleaning (i use alcohol) and you are ready.

Your post is confusing. First you state its a Neu, then you add some detail regarding Castle? Which is it?

I don't know but you can try it with some wire from a transformer.
          Your motor is black?

              hello John,

I have the black neu motor, i read in some posts in this forum that the green CC motorwires can be shorten. so i was wondering it can be done the same to black neu.

Yes, those who say not to shorten the wire know what they are talking about - the others do not know what they are talking about. The Castle motors are not Neu motors. They have a different design although they are based on Steve Neu's designs. The wires coming out of the Castles are regular silicone-insulated copper wire and can be shortened just like any similar wire. The wires coming out of the Neu motors are the actual motor windings.

It is not a good idea to shorten the Neu wires. If you cut them past the pre-tinned portion you will never get solder to stick to them (unless you want to scrape the insulation off each and every strand of the wire with a knife and hope none of the strands break). The motor is then ruined. The real question should be - why do you want to shorten them? They are already pretty short. If you need shorter wire length between the motor and the ESC, cut the ESC wires.

                      Hello fluid,
the answer was in the question itself. I wanted to shorten wire length between the motor and ESC but wasnt sure which to begin with.

thanks for the clarification guys! i needed more inputs to be certain. Now that it clear, i will just go ahead shorten the wires on my esc instead. God, i love this forum!
