I have a 41" Osprey doing nothing so thought i would start using it,but wanted to keep the cost down a bit. Would a T600 1400kv on 6s with a T180 esc push this hull to a reasonable speed with the high torque this motor has along with a reasonable size prop that this motor is capable of turning. Not expecting 50mph or anything like that but some thing that i could run when the waters a bit choppy so cant run my smaller faster boats. What speed should i expect to see with this setup or is this motor just not enough in the Osprey. Thanks Martin.
41" Osprey,is a T600 1400kv on 6s to small.

If you're not looking for big speed I think it would be fine.
Howerver, HK has 1050kv 5682 motors for close to the same cost as their T600s ($10 more) and fightercat has 200A HV ESCs on sale for not much more than the T180. You would have a much more powerful system if you have the lipos to power it. -
Yes ive seen all the larger HK motors that look excellent for the price, i was trying to avoid a major rebuild because with the 56 size motors it means ripping the mounts & shaft out & fitting new as the motor would need moving foward. As the large diameter of the 56 motor + jacket wouldnt clear the hull bottom & wouldnt align with shaft angle. Thanks.Comment

My preference would be the 4082 1600kv as the mounting is rather standard compared to the 56mm stuff. The leopard 40 x 70mm cooling jacket here at OSE works like a charm on this. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...FInrunner.html
Found this on the web showing the Osprey doing 53 mph with the same motor or similar as the one shown is an actual leopard. IMHO you will get the same results with the Turnigy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5--fQ8LzaYComment

Either way, the T600 should do well also if you go LV.Comment

Don''t forget about the 4092 size leopards http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...o-4092&cat=148 with a 1390kv and the low profile leopard jacket should slide right into the stock mount without a major rebuild just a little reinforment around the mount. Should be plently on 6s for 50+. I hit 55.1 in mine with a cc1717 and a x447/3 could bump up to a larger prop, but I think I might gain more speed out of some different packs but I am actually going to scale back to 5s2p 12,000mah instead and keep the same prop looking to gain runtime and lower the amps.Comment

Hello, I'm getting 56mph with Leopard 4082 1600kv on 6s2p 5000mah (10000mah total) 445 prop. just put a 448 on and sould hit 60mph no problem. Use to get around 8min.
4092 1390kv on 8-9s should give you 65-70mph.
the cc1717 should pull better than 55.1mph? I would imagine 70ish ?Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

Im probably going to go with the 4082 - 1600kv with T180 esc. I still wonder if theirs any difference between the Leopard 4082 - 1600kv & the HK Turnigy 4082 - 1600kv which is so cheap you wonder whether theirs differences inside the 2 motors. A friend has one of these HK 4082 versions in a Genisis & it appears to run very well indeed.Comment

Don't know if they are different? Hope not! LOL truth is... Why install a 5692 or similar if you gain like 5mph, all you win is, more battery power needed and a heavy hull. That hull don't like too much speed anyway.Visit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

You could also upgrade to a SF240 and maybe push it a bit harder. Even on 7sVisit www.customcfparts.com | Custom Boat Building | Custom Carbon Fiber Parts | Custom Graphics | LMT Premium Dealer | MGM Premium Dealer | YouTube | Facebook

I seriously doubt you would see a difference in same boats side by side. The usual comment is they use cheaper bearings and lesser quality magnets but then again I have never heard of turnigy motors with bearing problems or short life or under power issues and they sell them by the truckload. If the price diff was slight I would go with the brand however you can by 2 Turnigys and still have change left over for a lunch at McDonalds. Personally I have 2 of them waiting to go come thaw.Comment

I've starting using the 200a SF in high amp 6s applications due to the extra "room" and cuz the T180 still likes to cut to LVC early at times...............or thermal when pushed hard.NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS??
