:) And then we got ahold of firecrackers and had our own war games.

Grim do you remember the Estes Saturn5? I built one in 1980, launched it when it was way too windy and it leveled off at about 10 feet like a cruise missle and those big chutes opened about a foot of the ground. Pretty stupid but quite a sight.

              yea.. I do..

I have a new one in the box. A few years ago Estes re-released the kit.

But.. no longer.. just a short run.

It seems that there is a credible relationship between building F/E Boats , & our youth when we had the same drive in creativity though due to maybe to financial & technical constraint we could not have reached where we are today with our hobby .....

I started out with model trains, then plastic cars and planes, had an .049 tether car, control line planes & then, beleive it or not in 1958 had a 24" plastic mono with an all-metal .049 outboard that was "free flight" (ran it in the bay behind my house & chased it with a skiff). Then home-made wooden go-karts, real go-karts, then 50+ years of motorcycles. Now its FE all the way 'though I'll occasionally kick over the old chopper for a ride. Will I ever grow up ?

                    Tony,

Remember eating popcorn Xmas morning and running your train.. The smell of the motor and smoke oil...

How about your first slot cars.. great times.. over oiling the motor.. asking grandma for a dollar so you could buy a new car..

Mike, I have a full on vacuum forming machine in my basement that I designed myself and built from scratch. 4000 watts, 220volts, stainless steel heat chamber. Who needs one of those really? The wife labeled it "Terry's easybake oven"

Hey, does anybody remember back in the late 70's there were some speed boats that had little tiny outboard motors? They ran on batteries. They were slow and no remote control but they were just so cool. I'll bet they weren't more than 8" long.

Mike, did you do Power Passers too? Those were the first lane changers. They were aweful but great idea. Some where I still have a Johnny Lightning 500 track. Think it's in the attic. SO MANY great toys back then.

Tonight my son and I are building a colonial meeting house from scratch for a 5th grade school project. It will be relatively scale.....ish. I'm going to show him what to do and try to get him to do it. Someday that kids gonna have some skills. Skills besides bossing everyone around on race day. Sorry guys.

LOL had both afx and tyco slot cars, I also built one of the Saturn V's. Oddly enough a few days ago after watching TLC I did a search to see if that rocket was still available. I also built the Bomarc missile, didn't fly well.
Still have a NIB Fox 35 c/l engine and a few cox .049's hanging about. My old steam engine is polished up and sitting on a shelf not 5 feet from me.
No idea where the other old toys ended up. Really wish I knew where the big box of lego went!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

There's 60 feet of AFX track all set up in my basement right now. haha

Wasn't there a TC3 track or something after the power passers?
