    another newb question.....

how do you guys reduce voltage from lipos to receiver and servos?
    i have a miss elam that i want to run 2 - 3s-lipos.
is there an inexpensive way to do this without smoking my rec. and servo?
    thanks for any help.

    You have two options:

    1) get a normal BEC which means you will need another battery pack to power the receiver and servo.

    2) Get THIS which plugs in between the esc and receiver.

    hope this helps.

You can use a UBEC: http://www.giantcod.co.uk/ubec-c-21_76.html

BEC stands for 'battery eliminator circuit'.

It was not a dumb question at all. Nobody is born knowing about fast electric boats and we all have to learn and hopefully continue to learn with each boat we build. It is much better to ask a question than make an expensive mistake.

          Cheers

There is no dumb question , just intelligence in curiosity !!! . Though on OSE.COM , there seems to be a a whole lot of questions being repeated , rather then just using the search function ...

                Hi Mowitlow ,

Was not my intention to insult you , rather just point out that there is much duplication of topical questions on this forum . Probably as much as 10-20%

                All the best ,

                    No worries mate ,

You're just being honest , as far as this site being a great place to learn from . People from all over the world recognize the many beneficial facets of this forum website . My experience level is only half of what others may be on this site , I don not claim to be an F/E Guru , just mearley a guy that recognizes that we are involved in a great hobby , so if I can contribute my own experiences on what members may ask about then I'll tap on the keyboard awhile ....

I'll get to your beautiful home state of California one day , it has been my ambition since the age of 14 to Waterski on Lake Tahoe , 25 years ago . use to live in Koahsiung Southern Taiwan 2000-04 & hopping on an International flight was like hopping on a bus for me at that time , now I am busy raising 3 kids under the age of 7 . So maybe I'll take my kids to Anaheim to visit Disneyland while on the same trip , complete my lifetime ambition .......

Maybe when my daughter is around ten to make it memorable for them all , as they are a bit young at the moment for such a trip . Sounds like I should have done some research as far as my personal ambition of Watersking on Lake Tahoe goes hey ( lol ) as you state it's cold there most times of the year . Though considering that I use to Waterski on the Hawkesbury River in Sydney during winter months in the past , use to own a Sanger Raceboat in my early 20s , it may not be too much of a challenge for me . The Colorado River & Lake Havasu are also beautiful places , as most waterways I have noticed on film & TV are , in Western States ( oh man I have to. Get there. Lol ) ......

We are in a great hobby , but nothing beats having a family of your own ....

                          All the best mate ,
