    Rigger turnfin question.

    1. in most pictures I see that the angle on the turnfin on riggers is bent toward the hull not away from the hull like on my
UL-1 why is this? and is a angled turnfin better or is a stright fin better?
this is on a 32" modified 70s wingding where I relocated the sponsons like todays riggers.

the fin gets bent toward the hull to pull that sponson in during a corner, the reason it is on that side is because hydro's a built to turn to the right.
it shouldn't be bent outwards, it will turn badly

It does sound like you have mounted your turn fin REVERSE direction.

The leading edge should be sharp and angled with the bottom of the turn fin (having the hook bent in it)
pointing (if you will) towards the center of the boat.
It is there to keep the right sponson planted on the water in a right hand turn and to keep the boat from doing a power slide in the turns.

go on line and check out the Tower hobbies site and find the UL1 hop up parts and you will see what I mean.

The Wing Dings DID turn tons better when the turn fins were relocated to the right REAR inside wall of the right hand sponson.
