Neu 1527/1.5y on 10s. No brainer. Legal for NAMBA and IMPBA. IMPBA has a weird 7000mah max battery capacity though. Although, I think the current printing still specs only certain motors. It just hasn't been updated. The Neu motor setup should out live the epoxy holding the boat together. If RCU is where you plan to run for sure check what their limitations are. You don't want to upset the apple cart.

Running with nitro is touchy IMO. You'll be allowed just enough power to not win consistantly. Imagine two boats with the same top speed but one is FE. The FE boat has no power curve. Acceleration should (in theory) be better coming out of the turns. Then if you find that delicate balance where all things are equal and your driving gets good enough to win often there will be those that think you still have an advantage (cuz you're winning) and so must be regulated further. They won't care that you nail the starts and stay in lane 1 for 6 laps.

        If I could read......he asked about 8s not 10s.

What if he went to a 2215/1.5y on 8s? I run a 1y on 6s. My favorite motor. Another option might be a 1530/1y.

I still go with my earlier suggestion of the Leopard 5698 910kv for 8s.................need 2p though!!

That motor with a Swordy 240hv should spin an x460-462................

For an 8S setup with either the 5692 or 5698 motor, what's a suitable ESC besides the Swordfish 240HV? If going with the 5692 motor, is the Fightercat 16S 200A or 8S 240A ESC a viable alternative?

Go with the new FC 8S 400A ESC that will give you some room for a bit of fudge factor, or you can go with the newer 16S 300A ESC. the 16S 200A units are on sale right now.

pictured in my 1/8th at the time was a 2280/10
what is the length of that hull?

Using an 8S setup and the 5692 motor, I'm aiming for the 1000KV. My only concerns the ESC selection.

Carl, I notice the FC 16S 200A is on sale so I'm tempted in using that. If money wasn't an issue, the 400A would allow for unlimited possibilities down the road. My other two options are the 8S 240A and 8S 300A. BUT if I can successfully run the 16S 200A, that's my top pick since the 240A price wise is $75 more while the 300A is $100 more.

For lipos, I'd like to go with Gen Ace 4S 5300mah 30C unless someone convinces me otherwise in the same cost category.

You can use the 16s 200a with that setup as long as you dont swing a 12" prop etc....................

With a reasonable prop(55mm +/- dia.) that setup should pull in the 150-175 amp range max..............just set it up to where you will be ok.
