do i need a skeg?

Im building a new boat and bought a rudder / drive set up from china.

because the drive was too close to the boat ive bolted it to the rudder stock.

do i really need a skeg or will this steerable drive set up be uncontrollable?

its going onto the back of a graupner B24 with a 2200kv motor and 4s
