    HK rigger- who bought one?

I was snooping around and noticed HK now has a rigger and for cheap. Looks a LOT better than the one R2hobbies is selling. It is smaller.

Just wondering if anyone has bought one yet and if so what they thought about it. I see its offered as kit or assembled. THe assembled would be nice but I question how well they are assembled and my other reservation is the rear is predrilled.

    Who knows for what hardware?

After finding a buddy code for $13.50 or so I was in.

At that price if it doesnt run good I can hang it on my cube at work for motivational support :)

I bought one as well along with the rudder, saw over on rcgroups where you also commented. What strut, flex, turn fin are you going to use?

Im not quite sure. I would assume they put the holes in for one particular strut. Given the clue there are only two bolts for the strut, I would draw the conclusion its the same strut used on the Small Bolt:

        http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80046

I will confirm it against the small bolt. If so I will be placing an OSE order too :)

Thanks, I also saw they recommend a 3700kv motor. I went ahead and ordered a 3900kv Tacon from hobbypartz. May be too much, but we'll see.

Im sure it will come down to the prop.

My limited knowledge tells me more rpm/lower torque = smaller prop. Lower rpm/more torque = larger prop. Could also adjust this with prop pitches.

I would use all the hardware similar to a JAE mini sprint..As for a strut I would build a ski on the tub similar to the mini sprint..It looks like it would help keep the back of the tub out of the water as it looks like leans back a bit..

I also noticed there is no foam for the sponsons.

I guess I will get some of that part a/b stuff and put in there. I dont think that stuff had any force behind it. Should be able to cut then sand it flush and put the top on the sponsons.

Also no metal tubes for the carbon fiber to run thru. I will for sure be adding that option!

Yeah Im in the process of building my JAE mini sprint which is very similar in size.. Thats how I built up the sponsons..You glue the side sheeting on the foam and then sand the foam flush with the top..Then the top sheeting goes on..
The carbon fiber boom tubes are 3/16..The boom tube supports are 7/32 brass tubing..Hope this helps..
Also check out the manual to the JAE.It might give you some tips and ideas.. http://www.zippkits.com/MSM.pdf

                    Rigger just arrived.

Seems to be designed/built extra heavy.

2mm ply all around and 2.3mm for the tub sides.

The booms are 6mm with no provisions for quick disconnect. The design has a piece keyed into the legth wise sponson right where the carbon comes thru. This will make it difficult to add a tubing receiver. Also no provisions for carbon replacement if you should break one. No foam for the sponsons.

The transom will require a strut with 20mm bolt spacing. 16.5mm is the bolt centers to the bottom of transom, so strut probably needs a center line depth of 18-24mm or thereabouts. I bought the recommended rudder and servo. The rudder has a sticker that says (22" rudder [1200]. The blade is 75mm lg. x 18.25 wide. The mount is 18.25mm x 10mm. Leading edge will be 38mm from transom.

                    Hopefully this info is useful.

                      looks interesting
joining in to see the results, do you think I can get props small enough and shove three motors in there? i want to do a triple something.

Anyone pull the trigger on a motor for this rigger?

They are recommending a 3700 kv motor on 3S power. 41070 RPM unloaded.

Is it just me or is this a bit high? I would like to go fast, but I would also like to be reliable.

                            Thisis what the recommend:
                            http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...00kv_600w.html

                            This is what Im thinking:
                            http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...tor_Boat_.html

3200 KV @ 3 S = 35520 RPM. Seems a bit more reasonable. This is my second rigger but the first one has yet to make it off the bench. So not sure on what kind of RPMs to shoot for.

I ordered http://www.hobbypartz.com/96m31-car-2848-3900.html which is 3900kv. For $21 I'll try it and see what happens. I had to reorder, messed up the first one so I'm waiting again. Did you get the strut yet from tobsd.com? Also, here's another buddy code
