    Permatex bearing and sleeve retainer

Anybody tried this high strength retainer to assemble a shaft?
Seems easier to find than Loctite around here although both are available at different places.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

The Loctite Steve at OSE sells works properly I think it's 630 or something.

HK sells TL-680 that works very well if in stock.

    680 not 690

603 but your tolerances have to be very close as it is thin. I pesonally do not like 603....there is better and stronger..

MHZ usa sells the 648 that I think has better gap filling properties.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering really about the permatex, I was in 3 different auto parts places trying to find a muffler and they all stocked permatex by the registers.
Just really wanted to know if it was an alternative as one of the stores is within walking distance.
I usually buy my shafts pre assembles anyway.
Cheers and thanks for the replies.

They are a reputable company that has been around for a long time. I have used many of their products and I am sure this will be just as good.

I've used 603 for years on all my .150 cables, never had a shaft/cable seperation. My procedure :

Shaft : carb cleaner inside, swirl cue-tip inside & let dry

Flex : hit lightly with wire brush ; spray with carb cleaner & paper towel dry

(These steps remove any residual machining lube)

Fill shaft with 603, assemble & wipe off excess that escapes after insertion

                    Let dry 24 hrs.

Note that there's a shelf life disclosure. Kind of gripes me that it expires long before I use hardly any at all.
