    Genesis RC Boat...your thoughts?

I am coming from a Pro Boat Apache and was looking at purchasing my next RC boat.

I was thinking about getting the Genesis (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...l_1045mm_.html) and was wondering if it is worth purchasing. The price is great, under $200 (Before purchasing the ESC/ Li-po Batteries)

The receiver and radios will be a non-issue. I can pull the receiver out of my Apache and put it in the Genesis and use with my Spektrum radios (Own the DX3s and DX3e as well as the stock pro boat radio which came with my Apache).

The ESC is what I will have trouble with. I would like an ESC that comes pre-connected with a BEC, if there is one out there and I do not want to spend too much money on one.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    worth getting.

yeah. i think the genesis is a great boat, spessialy after its been upgraded a little.
you can use a hobbywing or turnegy 180 and that wil do nicely in that hull on 4S

Search it. Very popular boat. Youll find all the info you need.

Here is my setup, all relatively cheap too. Turnigy XK-4074 2000kv on 4s with a seaking 180a esc (same as the turnigy 180a)

What do you think about going with less?

125 amp ESC or am I better sticking with an 180 amp?

Can i advise you to steer clear away from genesis hull unless you will make an extra effort to make it running right. I seen the front deck splitted into 2 at the seams after a high speed crash really weak compare to a miss geico.

I own a CF version but thats a different story altogether

2 reasons I would like the Genesis hull:

                1. Looking to take the next step up and learning more about RC boats (Mainly cats, since thats what my Pro Boat Apache is).
                2. Wanted a decent (notice I didn't say high end) hull at a good price to race and this seems like it is it.

there are alot of people on this forum and other forums that have the genesis and that are happy with it and enjoy running it.
as for damage. my genesis have flipped several times in 55+ mph and gotten away undamaged.

The "Genesis" I had was a bare hull from www.fightercatracing.com. Called the Daytona. Same hull. Mine was built very well and was much stronger of a hull than a Miss Geico. 2 completely different cats. The Geico will do better in the turns, where the Genesis will take chop a little better and handle straight line speed better.

x2 I love my Daytona and probably never let it go. I'd go with Fighter Cat over HobbyBling any day, same hull but better quality.

I have just got a used but very good genesis hull and hardware. It has been modified by the chap who built it. It has some carbon reinforcement and has a 3/16 drive fitted. I am planning to run it on 4 cells (2s2p 5800mah 30c) and a leopard 4074 motor.

The chap who built it did a really nice job.

                        A very nice hull.

That i agree, the daytona is way better than genesis from hobbyqueen in terms of quality

Saw the Daytona bare hull for $150..thats quite a deal and it does look very nice.

Only problem is, I don't know the first thing about priming and painting, so maybe that might be a reason not for me to get it.

Sorry folks, looks like I am sticking with the Genesis...I don't have time to learn how to properly finish a hull.
