    Strut - rudder setback confusion

    Am I missing something?
If the default strut for mid size monos is the 82.5mm long Speedmaster Stinger Strut - why doesn't Speedmaster make a 3 1/3" offset bracket for their long rudders - 21, 40, 1", dual taper? Is the only option to cut off the strut or make a longer transom mounting bracket for the 2 14" setback rudders?

There is no default size, they need or should be trimmed according to the length of the boat.
There is a lot to be gained by having a proper strut or stinger length, once I set the length on one of my monos I was able to take off the trim tabs and the boat runs better. That doesn't alway happen.
All part of the bunch of little things that add up to a great running boat.
I'll either make up a new rudder standoff from aluminum if I need shorter or I'll add a pad of hardwood and use longer bolts that go through everything and hold it all together along with epoxy if I need to go longer.
Eventually I'll own a small milling machine, would probably pay for itself in a couple years just in RC boat hardware!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
